Re: What are you reading right now?
Oh I like this thread. I'm always into finding something good to read so next time I need something I can come here.
I've been reading the 'Twilight' series lol. I have a couple of friends who like it and say the books are better so I got an E copy of it since I wasn't sure how I would like it. It's very much a high school level book maybe like grade 9 or 10 I'd say. Lol in my e book copy there's even been some typing errors. I saw all the movies (thanks cable) and they were alright but I've been liking the books pretty decently. The Bella character is a lot better in the books than the movies.

I'm reading Heaven by VC Andrews for my intake of trashy lit, and Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta because she's awesome.

I'm reading 'The Gift of Fear' by Gavin De Becker and it is amazing It's a sort of self-help book that teaches you how to avoid violent and dangerous people/incidents in your life and I have been gushing about it to everyone I know I only have 2 chapters left and it's the best book I've read in years!

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I'm really into history and I heard the movie is great, so I figured I'd read the book. Also, the narrator is Death, which only makes it better.

Re: What are you reading right now?
Just finished reading the 50 Shades of Grey books, don't judge me lol
I used to think it was pure porn and would tease some of my friends for reading it, until they literally forced me to have a go, and so I read a bit and couldn't stop It's not how I thought it would be, I enjoyed the story a lot, especially 50 Shades Darker.
I also read A Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides after I saw BooksAndQuills hyping over it, I didn't enjoy it though, was too slow paced and I didn't think the story was that good

I read through 4 or 5 books in January and then started reading Lolita and have just kind of stopped. I only have about 20% left but it is such a disturbing book I can't get through it.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I renewed the aforementioned New York Trilogy but can't for the life of me finish it so I'm taking it back. It is so boring, I'm sorry. I have almost finished 1984 because it's one of the recommended books for me to do an essay comparing it to Oryx and Crake for my English coursework. I really don't like it all that much. I kind of feel like it's because I have read so many books similar to it, and although I understand it was the first and therefore it is revolutionary, the fact that I've read so many versions of it... So many better versions of it... Just renders it unenjoyable to me. However, I still have to pick a comparison book for the coursework. Other recommendations are Brave New World and the Handmaid's Tale, so I'll likely try one of those next.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I have two on the go.
Insurgent from the Divergent series. I'm not a fan so far. Everyone seems to have read this trilogy, so I thought I would give them a try. I'm finding them a little bit... Dull? I'm finding it slow too.
Drugs Without the Hot Air by Prof David Nutt. I've actually been to a couple of talks/lectures David Nutt and he is a brilliant man. It's a non-fiction book about illegal and legal drugs (caffeine, alcohol, nicotine) and their "risks". I'm really enjoying it, would definitely recommend it if you're into science/pop-science.

You would look a little better, don't you know, if you just wore less make up.
Re: What are you reading right now?
It's shitty because people didn't like the ending. I actually really did like it and once you get to a certain part, it really picks up.losiento wrote:Allegiant .. Why is it so...boring and terrible all of a sudden? I loved Divergent and Insurgent so i don't know what happened. The main thing that bothers me is that you can read Four's perspective. It is soo... cringe-worthy. I don't know why! I had like the biggest crush on Four. it's so weird. and i'm only a few chapters so far but it just doesn't interest me.. but i have to force my self to read further .. i want to know the ending but like this third book's ratings are shitty so uhhhh

Re: What are you reading right now?
Just recently finished Unteachable by Leah Raeder. It's a New Adult book about a student and her teacher who become involved in a relationship.
Wasn't crazy about it, I don't understand all the glowing reviews on Goodreads.
Now I'm reading Forever by Maggie Stiefvater. I'm making my way through all her books while I anxiously await for Raven Boys III. Why is October so far away!

Inferno by Dan Brown. I've read all of the Robert Langdon series so far, and I like this one this far through but I'm somewhat tiring of the Langdon-and-pretty-and-smart-woman-go-on-whirlwind-adventure format. I'm sure they'll have some sort of intimate relations at the end, like the other 3. Kinda puts a damper on it when you can see the pattern.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I usually go through phases where I read like 10 books in a month and then months go by where I can't even read an entire chapter... anyone can relate to this?
I've been busy with my studies so I can't really spend 5 hours reading books like I used to but I started the newest Chelsea Handler book and I haven't been motivated enough to finish it, and I LOVE her books.
Nora Roberts as well, she's released 2 new books (2 of a trilogy) about witches (i fucking love witches) and I just can't start D:

Re: What are you reading right now?
Yeah, I haven't read for ages now and it sucks. I literally spend 6 months reading obsessively then 6 months not reading at all :/ Still, usually means i have lots of new exciting books waiting for me when the urge comes backkathpt wrote:I usually go through phases where I read like 10 books in a month and then months go by where I can't even read an entire chapter... anyone can relate to this?

Re: What are you reading right now?
I just finished The Abominable by Dan Simmons and I'm reading The 80/10/10 Diet by Douglas Graham.
Re: What are you reading right now?
I think about reading it as well but I am afraid it might be a bit too... thrilling. Did you find the tv series boring or why do you find the book better?Sof25l wrote:Under the dome ,by Steven king. Didn't really loved the ending but enjoyed the book overall. It's better then the tv series
I'm currently reading The Amber Spyglass and every now and then a few pages of Sherlock Holmes

Re: What are you reading right now?
Ugh! The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
You alllll need to read it ! I love it & read it four times. Found out in December they're doing a movie after my third time reading it & naturally FREAKED out. I'm so beyond excited & even the author fell in love with the movie & who played the roles (Shailene & Ansel, brother & sister in Divergent are in love in this movie).
So prepare yourselves and please please read the boom before June
