Any Squishy make-over fans here? I enjoy her content since I like crafty stuff. I enjoy her thrift shop make-overs too. I don't think she's terribly problematic from what little I know? But she doesn't overly share either, which I guess is a good thing.
My only criticism so far, is I'm not a fan of the new intro music.

So feel free to chat about her here, good and bad if you like, just be respectful of eachother as per the rules.

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
I've watched a few of her videos and I like her. She's original and 'quirky' in an innocent way. I like that scrapbook she made, I can imagine young girls (like 8 to 16) really getting into that.
Only 'criticism' I could have is that I think her channel is getting a bit repetitive because she's so set on her own style. It would be nice if she tried more things outside her comfort zone (less rainbow, less cutesy animals who all look similar).

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
This is so random but I can’t stand how she uses her own videos as reactions in other videos lol
Re: Moriah Elizabeth
Yeah I think she would do well to try some different themes apart from the pastel foodie cutesy aesthetic. Although the few times she has strayed from that it has had less than stellar results, so maybe she knows what she's capable of?Dutchessie wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 6:30 pmI've watched a few of her videos and I like her. I noticed her mention the negative comments a lot more recently. I think now she's growing in popularity she's getting a lot of criticism, which as she said she's fine with, but as she also said there are times when you've put so much effort into something and genuinely enjoyed how it came out, and someone can come along and poop on it and make you feel like crap about it, so that's sad. But it's also the unfortunately downside of becoming a larger youtuber, and one that essentially caters toward a young demographic.
I don't even bother to try and read the comments on her videos because when I do it makes me hella frustrated with how juvenile they are.
Re: Moriah Elizabeth
I have to admit I do not like her baking videos. Her quirky ~don't know what I'm doing in the kitchen~ thing annoys me more than it should, and even if it comes out looking ok and like the squishy, it appears that a lot of the time it's completely inedible.

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
I used to watch her videos for background noise, but I can't stand the way she talks to her (obviously young) subscribers. "I know I'm going to trigger a lot of people" "You guys are going to leave a bunch of hate comments" and then I scroll down to look at the comments and they're all nice? Why focus on all the negative as if that's all you get?
I also hate the reaction videos of herself that she inserts everywhere. It's embarrassing.

I swear she thinks everything is cReEPy. Also I hate the jokes she makes, and then does cut aways. Ugh it's too much.

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
Agree with what people have said. I'm sure her target audience is far younger than mine, but I used to watch her videos but don't any more. They are dull and repetitive and there is only so many times you can glue some sponge back together and paint it rainbow. I find her quite similar to Nerderafter in the fact they are both very childish, animated but honestly their content is very dull and as for art it is of a pretty basic level

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
For someone who keeps saying 'I have so many ideas!!' Moriah sure likes to recycle them. She's good at designing one specific style of pastel rainbow cutesy fruit dessert animal. Her videos are really well made but if you watch her long enough you'll notice she does the same things over and over again. She sticks to re-doing her characters on every possible medium (until they become merch eventually), using the same paint pens (is Posca sponsoring her or something?) and the same jars of crusty paint all the time even though she literally has a studio full of art supplies. When she branches out, it's a hit or miss because she would need to do some research and practice to learn new skills. Otherwise she resorts to the most basic "crafts" e.g. painting on fake flowers or gluing pompons to a plant last time, like ???
I don't think Moriah and NerdECrafter Jackie are alike at all though. There's an overlap in their audience for sure, but Jackie's production quality doesn't even come close. She's churning out half an hour long videos twice a week that are nowhere near as aesthetic. No wonder she namedrops Moriah constantly and kind of imitates her (squishy unmakeovers, really?). And what's with that green hat she's been wearing for years? It' so ugly.

It's the way she uses clips of herself as reaction moments in her videos for me.

Completely agree, I like her aesthetic overall, I do like rainbow cutesy dessert stuff, too... But it's all become sooo repetitive!!! It would be great if she at least tried branching out far more, even if she chose the same themes... Why do they all have to be bears in strawberry costumes? etc...sparkleanddazzle wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 9:17 amFor someone who keeps saying 'I have so many ideas!!' Not to mention a lot of her videos lately seem like complete flops, and fails - yet she still posts them? I just feel like she is getting very lazy with it lately, and she's just alllll about that merch these days! I guess that's where the money is.

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
Gone right off Moriah, every video is just an ad for her merch and it makes me realise I am not her target audience. Her target audience is kiddos who will pester power their parents into buying overpriced merch for them.
Clever way to use her arts dgree, but it's not for me.

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
I hate how she asks her fans for used, old squishies and then acts all grossed out about them. It's so disrespectful. Also, the way she mocked people's questions in Q and A.

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
As soon as I saw that rubix cube the other week and how she went straight for digital pictures - I said to myself she will definitely make that into a merch item. And she did. Sigh. She's really become a sell out. She pimps anything and everything now, and sooo much damn merch...
There's no real creativity to her stuff anymore, it's so predictable.

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
After seeing her opening and using NerdECrafters kit, I made a topic for that channel/youtuber since I didn't see one:

So, she has released a Nail Polish line now - and says it's been a year in the making.

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
Her video today officially made me unsubscribe. I'm so entirely over her. She's become lazy AF, and her personality petulant.
Her last projects have been so basic, as she fake *struggles* so hard. How tediously simple are her 'blob' creatures? And her latest squishy makeovers have been lame and uninspired. I'm just done.
She's someone who claims to be into art since she was a child, and she's never heard of magic markers before? COME ON. As someone wholly into arts and crafts as a kid I had a set of those pens I THINK they were crayola back in the day? or some other brand name, not the cheap knockoff version she got off amazon... I remember them having various 'clear' shaped nibs for the colour changing, stars and lines and such... It's pathetic she didn't even try at all, or do any research. Like WTF was the point? And yet all her little teeney-bopper stans are heart eyes for it? Nah...

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
Her latest video reminded me of how stupidly wealthy YouTubers are. Why on earth did she buy that much clay?! Does she really think her viewers can afford that much clay to make a basic ass cupcake?

Re: Moriah Elizabeth
Yep I was utterly disgusted at how many boxes and packages of clay she got and then added even more. Fucking ridiculous.
All her ideas are so lazy, too. All she does is push merch, plushies, tees, etc. That is clearly where all her money is coming from these days, and she doesn't even try to be creative anymore. It's all characters she can MONETIZE and then huge hauls of excess craft stuff, even in areas of craft she doesn't even utilize much, like the clay.
