Re: Our family nest - Part 2
That's how I thought it worked...maybe that's just what my parents told me when they didn't want me on their insurance anymore. I totally get staying on a family cellphone plan. I put my parents on my plan because it is a better deal.As soon as I bought my own car, I was on my own policy so it's been like 8 years at least for me. The first car was the one my parents bought for me and that was them paying for insurance, but the deal was if I wanted a new car then I'd be on my own policy.

I feel Andrew should be paying car insurance at that age. IMO health insurance is more of a necessity rather than a luxury like having a car and car insurance. But maybe they’re paying so he’s able to save as much money as possible to move out. I hope he starts taking more responsibility when he moves out of their house.

Re: Our family nest - Part 2
I think he should as well, especially because he has a job and lives at home. I’m hoping he pays his parents directly each month like I did before I moved out and was on my own, but who knows. They have said before that Andrew paid for half of his college, so it seems like he would be paying for his own expenses like insurance as well. He should be saving a lot of money working full time and living at home. I’m not sure what he does for a job now, does anyone know? I know he got a degree in business or finance or something and got a new job sometime within 2019, but I don’t know if they said what it is he is doing.taytay wrote:I feel Andrew should be paying car insurance at that age. I really hope the title is clickbait. They're 16 they don't need to be planning hypothetical kids names.

Re: Our family nest - Part 2
I think Andrew is pretty independent and IIRC he paid for a third of his college costs, Candi and Ken paid a third and then his Dad and Stepmum paid a third.taytay wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 6:28 amI feel Andrew should be paying car insurance at that age. Him still being on the policy, I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is an element of trying to keep him around for as long as possible coming from Candi.
All the baby talk and the nonsense about names and the way she said about him and Cori.... Since the haters video I have seen a different side to Candi. Super manipulative. She puts out these videos and then tries to tell us that what we see isn't what we see. She makes out her spoiled kids ruined her vacation but viewers can't comment on them being spoiled. She claims there is no problem with the wrestling yet repeatedly posts videos of Chase complaining and saying how hungry and fed up he is. She mentions Andrew moving out and days later she posts a video with a title referring to baby names. She is trying to cope with her emotions surrounding her eldest son leaving home, which I can empathise with, but it's too far.
I think she loved the fact the kids needed her so much.... She loved it so much she just had to tell the world about it. She loves that all the kids are on their insurance policies, so she tells us how much it costs. She doesn't want Andrew leaving so she overshares to prove that she still has an insight into his life.
I actually really like Candi, but since that haters video came out there has seriously been something so off about the channel.

Re: Our family nest - Part 2
Ken and Chase taking target practice in today's vlog. That set-up makes me very uncomfortable. Is it parallel to their driveway? I could see the main road through the trees. It seems maybe there would be a better spot for this on their property.

Their target area is really close to the driveway, you can see it in other vlogs when they were just building it. Is there a regulation that decides how close you can get to your house/driveway?

Re: Our family nest - Part 2
Does anyone else find it odd that OFN has sort of morphed into a bad season of 'Friends' just with high schoolers, parents and after school activities? It's technically still a family channel but I don't consider it that anymore. It's literally Karli and her friends, Chase and Asha, the older boys and their girlfriends. Candi is like a narrator in the background or something and Ken barely exists. A never-ending saga of domestic life with a little gossip, drama, etc thrown in. Every vlog is like a new episode of the show. I mean it's honestly comical. Josie does most of the vlogging with Karli who always looks uninterested. Asha does the filming for her and Chase. Candi is spilling the tea on camera about her son sneaking someone into the garage. Chase is on a downward spiral with wrestling. I think Candi maybe saw this change coming or this idea and ran with it. Have a bunch of kids vlog, let them do whatever they want, make it a shit show, etc. Now that the kids are older there's not many "family" things to vlog so it's essentially a series of episodes chronicling teenagers lives in rural Michigan. What other channels are just a bunch of kids doing whatever they want?

To be fair, people will complain in the comments if a vlog focuses too much on Ken and Candi. I think this is just Candi trying to give the viewers what they want to see, which is the kids. It’s mostly kids that watch them so it makes sense to me. Any time Candi tries to do something more geared toward adults like OFN talks or her Candiland channel, it doesn’t seem to get as many views and it always just goes to the wayside. I think she should still continue them if it’s something she enjoys, even if the views aren’t great.youtube_obsessed842 wrote:Does anyone else find it odd that OFN has sort of morphed into a bad season of 'Friends' just with high schoolers, parents and after school activities? One thing I have always respected about OFN is that they are pretty normal compared to most other family vlog channels. A lot of the other family vlogs on other channels are super over the top, a lot of content is scripted and staged, most videos are sponsored or pushing a product, the parents are trying to get their kids on TV shows or to become singers, generally fame hungry, etc. I don’t agree with everything OFN does but I think they keep it a lot more realistic than other channels even though that can result in some boring content. The way they vlog has been working for them so they probably won’t change it. It’s pretty normal for families to not spend as much time together as kids get older, especially when some of them have jobs, extracurricular activities, spend a lot of times with friends or SO’s, etc. I just wonder what will happen once all the kids are adults and if the vlogs will continue.

I feel bad for chase cutting so much weight in such a short time can't be healthy for anyone let alone a growing 16 year old boy.

Karli seems so unhappy these days. Even with friends around she just stares at her phone. Spending 12 hours on your phone in one day is excessive and a problem.

Re: Our family nest - Part 2
I’m honestly shocked that schools will allow and encourage kids in wrestling to cut weight. I really think that is something that will be exposed soon and we are going to look at it in 10 years and go wtf?? I just can’t believe that Ken and Candi don’t care about what he’s doing to his body. There’s no way in hell they would let Karli do something like that to herself. Could you imagine if her dance instructor said she had to lose 10lbs before her next competition? And no, the fact that he is almost 17 does not matter and it is not an excuse. Chase lives in his parents’ home, he’s still a kid, and they are the one paying for the sport. I think Ken is the one pushing him to keep doing it. So it’s on THEM if he damages his body long term.
This is an interesting read is about cutting weight if anyone is bored or unfamiliar with what wrestlers go through: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/243 ... ed-my-body
That’s not dramatized at all. I know guys that wrestled in high school and they have similar issues. Almost every guy I know that wrestled in high school is below average in height, many of them have food issues, most of them have joint and bone issues, and nearly all of them regret it. Is that really worth it? Especially if they aren’t completely happy playing the sport?
I really hope Karli is happy. I think she’s just probably really over having a camera on her all the time.

Re: Our family nest - Part 2
Im shocked that Andrew is buying a house already. I’m the same age as him but I’ve lived in rentals since I was 17. Seems a massive jump from living with your parents to owning a home.

Re: Our family nest - Part 2
The latest video shows Candi still reads here, but she doesn't want to make an account so that we have this space to talk amongst ourselves and she doesn't want to get into it.
I feel bad since she has so much on her plate with her grandmother needing to go into a nursing home and her father currently in the hospital. She still has her parents and grandmother around. I lost a pair of grandparents and a grandfather already and I know my grandmother won't be around when I reach Candi's age. I'm dreading the day I lose my parents or have to even deal with them in the hospital. They had me at like 36 so they're getting up there in age considering I'm verging on 30.

Re: Our family nest - Part 2
I caught that comment too. I don't think Candi keeps Andrew around for content. Rather, he is around so she chooses to shove the camera in his face because he is merely another person that can perform in her show.heatherrrrz wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 5:34 amThe latest video shows Candi still reads here, but she doesn't want to make an account so that we have this space to talk amongst ourselves and she doesn't want to get into it.

My question is more about the finances. I have no idea what Andrew does for a living; he could have money saved up to do this.... but even with the pre approved mortgage loan, isn't that a heavy burden for a 24 year old? I'm 24 and I couldn't imagine making that move right now. Do you think Candi and Ken are helping him? Is Andrew's biological father in the picture financially? It's one thing to pay a mortgage every month but it's another to simultaneously pay for 'life' as well. Utilities, car insurance, gas, phone bill, I could go on and on. I just wonder who is paying all of that or whether he really does have the means to support himself independently.

I think I was the one that said Candi should join here lol. I was being serious! That’s actually really cool of her to not want to “ruin” it for us. I don’t think it would though. Other youtubers have jumped on to talk to people and usually it makes everyone respect them a lot more and gossip less because they understand them more.
Anyhow, I think Andrew has been saving up for a while and he has a degree in business or finance and probably has a pretty decent job. I doubt he’s making a TON but I could see him making enough to afford a modest house in their area.
I do think it’s a little strange to buy a house when it’s your first time moving out, though. He’s never lived on his own before (right?) and I would personally want to rent an apartment or something for a year or so to adjust to living on my own if I were him. Maybe that’s just me being super cautious though. That way you kind of learn how to maintain your living space while also having the landlord or whatever to help you when something goes wrong. When I first moved out I was shocked at how often stuff breaks or stops working in a house, but luckily I had the landlord that could take care of it and also pay for it. It was nice to know about all of that stuff and how to deal with it before having to actually handle it completely on my own.
Plus what if he ends up not liking the area or something? You’re stuck for a little bit and then have to go through selling the house which is a pain. It’s good though that he is getting this responsibility and will be building equity while he’s young, but I would want to get my feet wet a little with living on my own before committing to something as huge as owning a home. Again, I’m kind of a worrier so maybe that’s just me. I’m sure Candi, Ken, and his dad would all be there to help out if something went wrong.
I’m really curious to see what house he ends up getting! I live in California and it’s pretty much impossible for someone that age to buy a home unless they’re making tons of money so that’s nice that he is able to do this.
