Advice getting call backs for jobs

Hey, I am desperate to find a new job soon and have been applying to retail jobs. Any advice when applying to Sephora or Shoppers (in Canada) or Old Navy etc?

I have applied online but haven't had much in the way of calls for interviews.

Try to apply in person for that type of jobs, because it’s easier and probably get interview right on the spot..
When you have a direct email for the HR.. always follow up after sending your resume! Go to jobs fair/recruiting events.. Do some internship/ volunteer work to build relationships and gain some experience! Look into staffing agencies, they have some temporary positions..
