Never realised this thread existed...I’ve got nothing to offer but I’m howling about them lying about being twins.

Even if he was at some point, he definitely wasn't a good one.Listenherenowxxx wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 7:16 amidk if this has been spoken about but is this guy actually a hairdresser? because i have a hard time believing that.
He doesn't know the basics and him styling hair is a disaster.

Re: Brad Mondo
I'm not knowledgeable about hair but I'm sure an active hair dresser would use real clients instead of dolls and wigs. Also, he did some transformation videos a while back and they were all shot in God knows where. It did not look like a salon at all, and don't you think he'd be promoting his salon if it existed? He's saying gliterrati every two seconds.
Ah don't get me started about the hair style he did on Safiya Nygaard, it was terrible. Absolutely terrible.

Re: Brad Mondo
Now he did one for hyram and it's absolutely hideous! Random spots of blue and also super moldy looking. Not a look. He fried off snitcherys hair to add one failure to the pile. In this newest one he didn't have a salon to film in either, makes me believe he hasn't been an actual working stylist for years. Maybe really never, I think his only experience is from his dad's salon?betylistic wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 8:35 amI'm not knowledgeable about hair but I'm sure an active hair dresser would use real clients instead of dolls and wigs. Edit to add: I actually am a trained hairdresser in my country, I can say that working with actual humans is MUCH HARDER than on wigs etc. The heat from the scalp, client moving, having to be careful not to color the clients skin, positions where to keep your body, sometimes unclear hair history and lots of other factors make it much more difficult. This is why they use mannekins at hairschool, it's much more simple.

My guess is no, and if he ever does he'll play it off like it was meant as a joke all along and the audience just didn't get itrainbowme wrote:Will he ever address the fact that he was lying though?urmel wrote:The twin branding is officially dead

Re: Brad Mondo
I watched his video on teaching people how to cut hair at home, with his follow up of watching people use his technique. Why is this guy obsessed with women having short hair? He goes on and on about how long hair is so ugly, and having a U/V at the back of the hair is "dated" and not attractive. Then he gives instructions on a mannequin, expecting people to follow that perfectly on their own head of hair (and of course mocking it if they don't get it right). I wasn't surprised to see him not wear a wig to demonstrate, it just seems like he wants to shit on women for the sake of it.

He also thinks everyone should be blonde. I don't follow much of any of his advice because I have wavy/curly hair and he doesn't seem to cater to that hair type at all.ChicagoFlavoredPetty wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 4:07 pmI watched his video on teaching people how to cut hair at home, with his follow up of watching people use his technique. Re: Brad Mondo
I decided to have a side bang and found his 'tutorial' on how to cut your bangs. First of all, I dont think normal people have the tool that he uses at their home, so what is the point? Also he did a HORRIBLE JOB at cutting that mannequins hair. I think all he ever does is talk and criticise people. He is not profficient at his job at all !!

Re: Brad Mondo
I think he's barely even cut, coloured and styled any living person's hair. I followed his tutorial to cut my own hair but it's not realistic with his sections. I have waay more hair than a mannequin and not long after I realized how his sectioning was totally unreasonable. Anyhow, I ended up having a V at the back back and liked it a lot!

Re: Brad Mondo
YES!!! These are things that annoy me about him, he think everyone looks good blonde. That's not true. Some people look better with darker hair. I also hate how his "advice" doesn't cater to hair beyond like 1C. If you have wavy/curly hair or more, he doesn't make videos for you.ferriswheel wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 6:44 pmHe also thinks everyone should be blonde. Blonde is not for everyone. At all. I've seen people go blonde that really shouldn't have. Brad is one of them

Re: Brad Mondo
this is going to be a bit of a rant lol
he really doesn't have any specialist knowledge at all. i've learned a few things from his videos but never anything mind-blowing. i feel like a lot of what he "teaches" is stuff that women who care about their hair would usually know anyway. if he was a more talented or expert hair stylist i would respect him more but with his basic knowledge, condescending tone, and obvious preferences, he's just another guy making money off of telling women how to look.
his henna video annoyed me a lot, he obviously didn't know anything about it and was extremely biased. it doesn't just colour the hair, it's incredibly beneficial to hair health and is very fade-resistant. the videos he chose to watch weren't the best but they really weren't that bad. he described the first women's hair as being patchy but 1) henna takes a couple days to finish developing on the hair once you wash it off so your roots are usually very vibrant at first, and 2) she was out in daylight, the difference in colours was mostly sunlight and shadows, not everyone has the resources to film their hair in consistent studio light lol. tbh a lot of henna photos can look not that great because there's not really any professional photos taken of it as it's not done at salons. but whenever i see it in real life it looks amazing.
he's right that you are obviously limited to red tones with henna but you do have some control over brightness, coppery-ness, ashiness, etc by the ingredients you mix in with it - like cassia, indigo, etc. it's a red dye, and even with chemical dyes red colours limit you to uhh red shades. obviously a preference for chemical dyes is valid; they are quicker, you can do a wider variety of colours, etc. but the obvious disdain and lack of knowledge western/white hairdressers have around henna really bugs me. i'm white and henna is not a part of my culture but there's so many free resources to learn about it online.
he's so obviously elitist as well with his hatred of dyeing your own hair. the henna i buy costs £2.50 from my local asian supermarket and i get 4-5 uses out of it. i've used box dyes and bleach before and i agree that it most of the time it won't look as good as expensive professional colouring but it really doesn't look bad. maybe because i mostly know people who dye their hair themselves i'm just very used to it, but he seems SO shallow when he talks about it

Re: Brad Mondo
this guy is a joke.
1. he thinks people need to spend thousands on their hair and if they don't their hair won't look good. i've spent thousands at hairdressers and they ruined my hair, ironically the same type of "hairdressers" like brad that only know and appreciate straight hair the color of hay. the type of "professionals" that will charge you 150 euros for a coloring only to completely mess up any hair with texture or deeper color.
2. just overall terrible skill. if you're gonna make your whole career about critiquing others, shouldn't you be at least decent yourself?
3. inability to accept and address constructive criticism
4. condescending, snobbish attitude and general ignorance about the world and his supposed job
5. MISOGYNY. this guy seriously hates women, but because he's gay he's given a pass..just watch his ANTM reactions. he seriously wants women to just be stupid silent dolls that he can do whatever he wants to, regardless if it ruins their healthy hair or confidence/self esteem. constantly speaking over women as if we're stupid and he knows better.
6. constantly shilling his stupid overpriced products (and other stupidly overpriced products like a 200 dollar hair brush even though his audience is mainly teen girls)
i just hate this guy. sorry for the rant lol i had the time today, and i'm tired of this prick being recommended to me.

Re: Brad Mondo
i am a licensed cosmetologist in my state and i specialize in color (blonding and vivids). this dude irks me so much. i don’t know any actual hair stylist who takes him seriously.
i was honestly shocked when i watched his olaplex video and he started it off by saying something like he’s not really sure if it works. OLAPLEX WORKS!!!! it is so important to use the products necessary to protect the client’s hair. it doesn’t even have to be olaplex necessarily, but any kind of precaution during the hair lightening process, and it scares me that so many people look up to him. and for someone who has supposedly been doing hair for 10 years or whatever he claims, it’s honestly laughable and unfortunate that he would say that.
i was also thinking if a woman were making the same kind of videos he did, judging and making jokes about people doing their own hair, and spreading the same kind of misinformation like he does constantly, people would be calling her all kinds of degrading names and questioning her as a stylist constantly. they wouldn’t be ruining their hair own on purpose for views and to be noticed. but because he’s a white dude he gets away with it and from what i’ve seen, people who aren’t stylists see him in a positive light.
also, i’ve watched his makeovers and they are super underwhelming and not that great. i’ve seen beauty school students do better transformations.
i’m just so tired of this guy and i hate how quarantine has made everyone reference him for their at home hair experiments. as a hair stylist it is super frustrating to see because he does not give good advice at all.
