I decided to catch up on some Mark videos. I do find the ocean exploration game kinda boring tbh. It's pretty yeah but come on, I wanna see sharks, or dolphins or something scary or weird. XD

Haha yeah XD I kind of hate how on mobile, twitter, fb, etc are different from version on the computer. I prefer desktop versions to be honest I accidentally unfollowed a singer I like so I clicked follow, and i go check on my desktop it turns out I didn't unfollow because it doesn't show I unfollowed her then followered. She would have been on the top XD (Sara Bareilles ftw!).

Yeah he's done that before. I remember him doing that to a girl on Instagram. She was confused but thrilled until he realized his mistake and unfollowed her. This fan seems to be in the same mindset where he's confused but thrilled. Also I appreciate that he's respectful and not DMing him. Other fans I feel would not be so polite.

Also, more info on the Yami case. I'd rather through PM because I don't know how accurate it is and don't want to make another huge blunder due to misinformation.

Well know if I know if someone follows me that is a Youtubber or whatever, I'd think it's a mistake XD Yeah I wouldn't be shocked though if someone harassed Mark or whomever if they saw that Mark or whoever followed them. That would suck D: It's nice to enjoy Mark's tweets and stuff I can understand him being antsy and wanting to go home, I get like that too Unless I am having way too much fun and everything, then it's sad D:

Maybe it's the lighting, but didn't the hair closer to the roots of Mark's hair look greenish in the Boogey Man videos? I still love the Would you Rather videos and Would you Press that Button.

I wonder if he will play Ben and Ed? I watched DLive play that game (twice just tonight, I REALLY need need to keep my mind distracted right now), I love it I know jack played it too, have to finish watching the rest

Just random, but just want to apologize to any lurkers or anyone on here for looking like an bitch. My emotions were high at the time, still kind of are and everything. I will try to keep things to a limit and be nicer with my words. I am a nice good person, I try to be, I just get short fused easily sometimes (Maybe it's the quarter Irish in me, I dunno XD). I do feel bad and have regrets, but I always try to learn, but I'm human, we all make mistakes. Course some mistakes are unforgivable of course depending on what you did....

Naw Aquarian, you're good. And IMO the only things that are unforgivable wouldn't be things you do by mistake.

I kind of hope he doesn't play Ben and Ed, tbh. I liked Jack's runthrough of it, but Mark's stress level at those types of games tends to skyrocket. I'm afraid it would end up like another Give Up 2 or Mario Maker, where it clearly stopped being fun for him to play at one point.

Did anyone see the new highlights video? I haven't laughed at one of Mark's videos as much as I did that one in months If I didn't have work in the morning, I'd stay up and watch all of the videos in that compilation. I prefer his old videos over post-April 2014. I don't know what it is about them, but they're what got me hooked on his channel, and what keeps me coming back (especially right now).

Funny how he mentioned Ocarina of Time in one of the clips. Just got the remake for my birthday (23, a girl, and still asking for games and toys on my birthday ). Anyways, time for sleep.

So after posting my first two comments, I came straight away here XD since this thread is the reason I joined GG

Hi, I'm lottahart, super duper new to this Markiplier community.
The past few months have been very stressful and lonely for me - my friends have started college months ago while I'm still at stuck at home, alone, decaying T_T

And just a few weeks ago, I was circling around Youtube for some music. I was checking out games' and cartoons' soundtracks, and stumbled upon covers of Mary's Song from the game Ib. I'm really fond of RPG games (especially those adorable ones) and thought that I should check the game out.

I searched for Ib gameplay on YT and Markiplier's video came up first. I watched the videos and I WAS HOOKED. I haven't laughed so much in such a long time. Since then, I continued to watch his videos. I love watching my brother play video games when we were younger, and watching Markiplier videos brought back memories. I felt like I was playing the game with a friend, and laughing along together with him and the people in the comments section.

My first impression of him was -- "why does he sound like that man from Megamind?" "Oh my he's such a dork! " . I was screaming (quietly) at my computer screen when he missed the obvious clues.

While watching, I promised myself not to google up any infos about his profile or background. I have a fetish of finding out infos about my favourite celebrated personalities, just to see how they are really like in real life. But as I go deeper, negative stuffs came to surface, and I hate that. As what you guys say, these public figures are humans too - they have flaws, but sometimes the negativity just saddens me (seeing hateful remarks about them) . Upon discovering Markiplier, I decided that I should not look up about him and just see Markiplier as Markiplier himself.

......Well since I'm here, that means I'VE FAILEDDD XD (sorry me)
While watching the videos, I read the comments regarding the late Daniel Kyre, and started to search up. And it seems I dug too deep (well too farrr)

I came across this forum and started reading this thread for the past few hours. It's really sad, to hear how horrible things are behind those laughters and scarejumps.
I've learnt a lot from your posts (not just about Markiplier) but awareness on harassment, and how scary obssessed fans are.

I'm sorry for such a long post... I'm actually quite shy in real life and on the internet, but I felt like pouring out my thoughts. (Plus you guys seem awesome, and I'm lonelyyy)

Although I'm late in discovering this YT gem, the good thing is that I have a lot of videos to add on my watchlist :p kihkih
I do watch some of the newer videos, they're funny too, but I prefer watching the older stuff for now

The weekend I decide to rest from my current workload is the day another explosion of news occur. Fortunately, the issue isn't entirely related to Mark or the Markiplier brand (but I'm certain he is relieved his own snapchat experience didn't happen when Keemster was around because that man is horrible).

Anyway!

Welcome to the forums to our new arrival. I'm Ely, the forum's recent psychology graduate (and I don't use my skills to virtually diagnosed any one especially Mark as I feel it isn't morally correct to do so) and very harsh critic of everything and everyone. If I ever say anything harsh, don't take it personally because I try to keep my harshness as a general observation than a personal attack on anyone.

With that intro out of the way, please allow me to give a word of advice for you in the best way to enjoy Markiplier without allowing the vocal minority to poison the experience for you or poison yourself: Do not, understand any circumstances, fall in love with Markiplier nor allow yourself to believe that idea.

Markiplier is only an entertainer. What you see in his videos isn't him completely; it is only one aspect of him as a complete individual. Of course I'm not saying he isn't a good person nor fake. On the contrary, he is a genuinely kind and generous individual with a dorky sense of humor, as you said; however he isn't a perfect individual neither. He can be harsh and avoids issues and be slightly cunning as well. But he isn't a bad person. He is a human, and a inexperience male at that, who has issues with romantic relationships.

I feel the main reason Markiplier's fanbase has a poisonous bunch because those individuals believe Markiplier is their virtual boyfriend/daddy/senpai/husbando/soulmate and they fight against other fans in their same mental situation, and have gone aa far as invade his personal space for it (like grabbing his butt at conventions).

So, to make this long message short: don't fall in love with him nor believe in that idea. Don't allow the Markiplier persona to subconsciously seduce you. Or else, you won't enjoy him for long which would be a shame.

With all that said, I hope you have fun here and if you need to talk about anything because I do understand how it feels to be lonely, then PM me or anyone else you end up befriending here.

Welcome to GG, lottahart! ::waves:: That "shadowy place" where Tumblr must never go. (Though if you ask me, the situation is often reversed. )

I am not the forum's recent psychology grad (congrats Ely ), but those are some good points regarding his fanbase. A lot of them are underage but harbor very adult fantasies about him, as evidenced by the FNAF fanart of him and those rather graphic Septicplier photoshops. I still find it hilarious that no one on Tumblr gave a single fuck about his repeated requests not to be treated like a piece of meat until he used that magic sjw phrase "imagine if I were a woman you said that to." Then anyone who ever even thought of touching him suddenly became the scum of the earth, because Tumblr never does anything halfway.

You'll find most of us here on GG support him and his various creative pursuits, although some of it really fell into WTF territory for a while. (Daniel's death hit a lot of people in the community hard, and you can tell it affected him badly.) Like Ely said, don't let the negativity get to you...if anything, he's shown amazing resilience this past year, withstanding everything life threw at him and still holding onto that love of his work that's so infectious. But he's not perfect, and he really screwed up in the whole "hide-the-gf" mess, which proves he's just as human as the rest of us. And that's a point he's been trying to hammer home to his fanbase ever since he started getting popular. Enjoy his older videos, you'll find some pretty good stuff there, and I'll see you around.

Ely pretty much hit the nail on the head, but yes, welcome!

Honestly the majority of us do respect Mark and enjoy most of his content. Granted some of his recent videos haven't been the greatest (for various reasons) and his recent nostalgia kick like with the highlights from his older videos and the Boogeyman videos that he's been recording back in his old setup have been a painful reason why some of us miss the old days. But we wish no harm on him or his loved ones.

But I'd say it's also that bit of respect that makes us hated by members of the fandom. We're a lot more critical of Mark than they are, not just about his past hidden relationship, but also how he handles problems in his fandom, which normally is hide in a bomb shelter until the radiation has set in, then make a speech and throw puppies at the mutants to keep them distracted until the next fallout. He'll also occasionally throw kittens in for some variety.

The sad part is a lot of this could've been avoided if Mark had been more strict with these kids from the beginning. Granted, you can't stop those that are super crazy and obsessed from acting out. Even Jack has his fair share, but they aren't the majority or as out of control as the ones in Mark's fandom.

Ely's right, a lot of these fans are stuck in this perpetual fantasy of being Mark's significant other, which in their mind gives them the liberty to objectify him and threaten any girl that gets too close to him like Dodger or Janet Varney. Either that or they try and force Mark into a gay relationship with Jack despite the two being straight because they'd rather have Mark be in an impossible relationship than know that someday a girl's gonna snatch him from them.

The best you can do is just enjoy his content from a distance and not get so sucked into his persona. Remember he's not some precious cinnamon roll too pure for this world that must be protected at all costs by the evils of the world lest his virgin mind be tainted by people saying bad things about him. (while writing/drawing porn of him ) Remember he's just a person who makes mistakes like the rest of us who happens to be super popular online atm.

I think monkee,Kei and Ely said everything I would want to. i haven't been on this forum that long, but, everyone has been really great. I too am not the most social of butterflies in the real world. So it's nice to converse with peeps.

So, I hope you have fun with us. And hoping we get some good content to watch from Mark this year. i have high hopes that after this break, he has finally had the rest he has needed for a bit. And his gameplay/sketches will improve even more:)!! And more Chica!!!

Yeah, I'm really not that surprised. I'm sure he has been flooded with hate tweets and what not. I really am hoping these accusations aren't true...but, his YouTube career is probably over either way. As people will hear this and just assume the worst.

Wow, that's crazy. I was wondering if he was going to make a statement about things, but maybe he can't at this point? According to Dramalert, the accusations are true, but I don't know how credible that source is.

From what little I've picked up, both from the Youtuber who outed Yami with their DM conversation of him confessing and Yami's gf, he did flirt with the 14 year old while knowing she was underage, but he didn't send her a dick pic. What's more he regrets it terribly, the gf gave him a huge talk, and he won't do it again.

Also the gf isn't dumping him, though plenty of people are ordering her to.

Whether all of that is true or not, I can't say. But I do fear this may be the end of Yami's Youtube career. This is a hard thing to walk away from.

The claim of the dick pic mainly came from the Drama Alert video where they got a statement from the victim and supposedly a Snapchat conversation between the two, but I think that's been discovered to be fake. But considering Yami's gf admitted to the flirting, I would think she'd admit if there was a dick pic involved. Also I would think if there was, she wouldn't be willing to stay with him after that.

Yeah I have seen claims of suicide as well and I'm praying it's not true too. Despite this massive screw up, he doesn't deserve death over it.
