Rachel Aust

Post by xIts_JJx »

I couldn't find a thread for her yet but I wanted to make one, I don't think she's a beauty guru since most of her videos are lifestyle related but I actually really like her and her vlogs are really interesting to watch unlike most mainstream YouTubers who slice together a bunch of clips, hers actually feel organised and flow quite nicely. I really like the way that her videos are done too, they feel like she's put a lot of effort into them despite her channel not having loads of videos.

I'm not sure if anyone else on here has heard of her but it'll be nice to talk about her and hear other peoples opinions.

I was wondering when someone will bring her up here. I quite like her and her videos, though her aesthetics aren't the same as mine. She's very relaxing to watch. Her boyfriend seems a bit like a meat head to me but he's not in the videos enough to give off a proper impression of him.

I feel the same way about her boyfriend, but you're right, he's not in her videos enough for us to get a real impression and he does seem nice. I really like her aesthetics but I don't personally share the same aesthetics. I like her cooking videos too, her food always looks delicious

My boyfriend is really on the fence about her, he thinks she's really sweet looking (he says her voice is sweet and so is her face and overall appeal) but finds it odd she forces this really sexy, goth-like vibe most of the time. He thinks it's really unnatural and fake because he finds it's just trend-following because everyone is doing the same on social media.

I don't know if she does it does for those reasons but I tend to agree it's a trend. I've been following her in IG well before she had even remote recognition on social media and she always gave off a really sexy, dark vibe, but it seems to have changed since she started doing fitness. She still posts super forced vampy-sexy looks (which there is nothing wrong with) but then she is really happy and bright in her videos which is kind of contradicting.

I agree with you! I don't know. Her voice actually pisses me off. I don't know the whole healthy living, meal prep, I'm super organised and I wake up really early and I'm sooooo productive, I only like black and white minimalism thing comes off as 'this is the right way to life' kind way to live. Haha that sounded so rude but whatever thats how I read her. I also preferred her without the front fringe. Not sexy.

I completely agree about the bangs, they don't suit her. It makes her hair look a bit like a wig. I really liked her with the shorter length and thought it looked really pretty... not that there's anything wrong with her length and hair volume (since she has extensions) it's just that she praises that salon in Brisbane and her hair hasn't looked great in a long time. :?

I really can't judge her character from the videos, but I agree that's it's a bit hard to really get what she's like as a person because she gives off a lot of different personas. I definitely don't hate her, and I find her videos really relaxing and she's super informative and clearly passionate about her life because she's very committed to it - the fitness, gym, all that stuff.

Really? I think she's always had nice hair, I was surprised when she said she wears extensions but after she pointed it out I found it easy to tell.
I started following her bf on instagram and he seems more business-minded than he lets on in her videos, I have a feeling he may end up on youtube or they'll do some sort of joined channel for all of their fitnessy stuff.

I don't get the whole "vampy" thing since its not neccessarily my aesthetic at all, I couldnt surround myself with THAT much black, but it looks clean in her videos. People over on zoes thread complain that she's too cluttered and I am comparing Rachel Aust to someone who is a total bore to watch with a cluttered backdrop in all of their videos.

I just think that her hair colour along with the bangs and extension looks like a wig, I've seen her around town a couple of times when I hang out at the mall in Brisbane and it doesn't look good in person, it's kind of bigger than her? But if she's happy with it, awesome for her.

No no, they are! The rest of her hair is extensions, I guess for volume? Seeing her in person her hair just looks really stiff and poofy. But it's summer here and maybe I keep seeing her on bad hair days, but my point is I think her hair looks too big on her, like she's wearing a wig. If I were here I'd look into thinning the extensions a bit so her hair looks voluminous but light and airy at the same time.

Oh!
To be honest I don't know a great deal about hair extensions, and I can't tell when she has them in her hair as opposed to when she doesn't. If she has a lot in then I presume that's why it looks wiggish in person? I like her hair short and long tbh, I can never get mine that straight, but she looks especially nice with shorter hair, that I agree with

Yeah, short her looks so, so nice on her. I can also attest that her natural hair is still pretty short so when she wears her hair down you can literally see the line where her natural hair ends and the length of the extensions start - they didn't blend it to her natural hair and it looks off. If she wears it up you can see the beads of her extensions which again, looks off.

If her hair is any indication of the quality of the hair salon she recommends, it's not any quality at all. :?

Are you a hair specialist? I'd have never noticed that you could see!

It's not like its the worst thing ever anyway. If she likes her hair then thats fine, like you said!

No one really trash talked her? the worst thing that was said here is that not everyone here shares her aesthetics and that her hair looks kind of off because it doesn't look good in person? that's a fair opinion to express. I'm sure some people don't like my hair or aesthetics, either.

Like honestly, we all (the 2 of us who seem to contribute to this threat ;) ) clearly enjoy her videos. I actually look forward to them! But for me it's good to have a place to chat about people on YouTube off YouTube because I don't necessarily want to hurt them in any way and I definitely don't want to start having to defend myself to them or their fans, especially if I am one myself. In fact, I come here because I am an adult person with a job, a relationship and a life that sometimes needs an outlet to chill amongst like-minded people. Sometimes we post extremely positive things and some times we don't - and again, nothing actually bad was said here. If they come here to read or if someone points this forum to them, they're the ones bringing the negativity to their own lives.

Yeah, that post has totally rubbed me the wrong way. We hardly said anything bad about her.

I even made the original post fully complimenting her - wheres the acknowledgement there, Rachel?

There's nothing really to talk about aside from the content of her videos - which we clearly enjoy. Once you mentioned the fringe I chimed in and we had a light discussion about it. There's not a faint hint of jealousy here, and no one is criticising her for being healthy or having a certain way of aesthetics, either despite what her friends on facebook suggest. My boyfriend doesn't seem to like her, but I definitely don't share his sentiment.

It's a pretty slow thread because there's pretty much two of us chatting away so there's not much to talk about any way...
