Re: Skylark
Skylark...the name, the logo....its so cheap -_- I just don't know how they saw that to look like top of the line quality stuff but I guess you can't judge a book by its cover....
Re: Skylark
i think they are realizing that packaging two totally different colors together was a bad idea. those of us who want sophia, i think, would not wear ava at all, and so we dont buy the duo.
Re: Skylark
I just wish it was available somewhere where I could physically see the products versus online, because I just wouldn't pick something out online, unless the pictures were absolutely true.

Re: Skylark
I noticed yesterday that they were still on "sale". I now have a feeling that $20 is supposed to be the price but they can just make it look like they are on offer. I'm not sure if it's the same in the US but in the UK something has to be sold at a higher price for 30 days and then it can be on "sale" for as long as you like!

Re: Skylark
it isn't like that in the US. usually, preorders are cheaper than retail prices. then the item can go on periodic sales. however, the item would usually be at the retail price. however, the brand can be different if they decide to have smaller profit margins because people are complaining about the price. or the site just didn't change the prices back yet.ismellreallybad wrote:I noticed yesterday that they were still on "sale". Re: Skylark
My review for anyone that cares:
I wasn't expecting much so I waited to get it until they announced it was on sale for $20 with free shipping. I'm pretty happy with the purchase. Elle's gloss is better in my opinion... maybe because I have Elle's coloring. I like the color of Blair's gloss but it doesn't look right on me if I put on as much as I would with another gloss (because it's super pigmented) but if I put on a REALLY thin layer it's not that bad.
Also, it has almost no scent & no flavor. I was expecting a vanilla/cupcake scent & flavor from them. I'm kinda surprised it doesn't have a flavor.
As for sticky-ness, it's not that sticky or slimy. It's more of a creamy texture & stays on well. It stayed on while I was eating/drinking so I was impressed. Your hair could definitely get stuck in it but my hair will stick in chap stick if it's windy enough so that's not really saying much.
If I could give you any kind of comparison, they're a lot like Buxom lip glosses in texture... except without the tingling/plumping feeling if that makes sense. They're definitely very thick.
So if you like lip glosses, I think it's good quality & you should try it out. They did pretty good on this & I'm impressed.

Re: Skylark
I got the same deal... bought it for $20 with free shipping. Honestly wasn't expecting much but they are great quality. And they are definitely not sticky. I have darker olive skin so the Sophia lip gloss was beautiful on me but the Ava lip gloss did NOT work at all. But I still absolutely love the lipglosses. The texture, the application, the pigmentation is everything the girls promised. I think they did a good job.
Re: Skylark
Just saw the eyeshadow palette on Elle's latest video. I have to admit I like a few of the colors, especially the cheek highlighter. I would never buy a palette without getting a chance to swatch it, though. Lipglosses are one thing, but eyeshadows can be too hit and miss.
To be honest, I'm just not drawn to anything they've released even though I used to really like Elle. I hate their packaging and their brand name lol

Re: Skylark
i hate the packaging on the palette. i know paper is cheap and all but it's so bulky. i expected them to have a streamline packaging that looks really upscale. i guess not because they don't have the eyes for that. just like their logo looks like it's made for tweens. they could have easily made the brand more glamorous looking.

Re: Skylark
why can't they come up with names for their products??? they are so so lazy and uncreative. they just let their "fans" come up with stuff for them.

They are so lazy. They say they're just trying to get their fans involved but i think they just can't come up with names...i mean look at the title of their books -___-
Re: Skylark
They are choosing colors (eyes and nails) based on seasonal color forecasts not by what they personally love. That's where the red and blue shadows came from in the shadow palette I think. It would be more interesting if they were to compile their personal favorites but they are selling them all so who knows?

humm if that is so then that is really dumb and just shows how much they lack in their own personal style and taste. BTW they I have noticed they have not mentioned much about Skylark lately its almost like a forgotten thing right now. I know I forgot about it untill I came on here.
I think it would be cool for them to succeed but they need to start making their makeup products for all skin tones, if they want to go big.
Honestly, I don't see this makeup line lasting long. Everything is overpriced and they put it on sale when they debut it. I hope they don't do/have a clothing line because they have no sense in fashion whats so ever and its just going to be a bunch of overpriced trendy clothing with their named slapped on it, kind of like this makeup line.

Re: Skylark
I bought their Wild and Free nailpolish set off ebay because there was no way I was paying full price for it. I like the colors, but they are SO streaky and I've only had it on for 2 days and my nails are chipping like crazy

Re: Skylark
Am I the only one who thinks that Skylark is obviously a bit of a fail and not an actual makeup line? The line about not launching with all the products at once and having pre-orders so they could "perfect" it was such BS...the manufacturer wanted pre-orders so they can manage inventory levels.
Also, it's been a year(?) and the only thing they recently launched was nail polishes. They don't seem like they're really "perfecting" products.
My theory about Skylark was just what Blush did for them so they would promote the site.

Looks like we know the colours of their next polishes.
Lol you totally called that. I just saw this post and saw you posted your prediction on a date back in january.
I guess they did away with the light grey colour though.
