I'm referring to the one where they went to Canada which was pretty cool to watch imo. I call it spontaneous because they didn't plan in advance where they would spend the night, etc. The only other cross country roadtrip was the National Parks one, but that one was not spontaneous. And I wouldn't call their roadtrips to California "cross-country."

Bottom line is everything in that article is out of sync with what we've been watching. First she says in her Q&A video that they're only going to be there until January 2016 and now in this article they don't know how long they'll be there and they're trying to make the tiny home more sustainable by adding plumbing and a stove... before January?? Everything is just contadictory. Idek.

Not too spontaneous as they were traveling in areas with tons of campsite - they just drove around until they wanted to stop for the night. My boyfriend and I did something similar in the same area years ago in his VW bus. Also, I wouldn't consider California to Canada cross-country.

But, yes, she's a total hypocrite. I guess anyone living with their parents are now considered to be living an "alternative" lifestyle?!

In the most recent vlog with the "fortune" Kevin made for Datev. it said "You will be told your beautiful tonight"

He is college educated, he has a degree! He should know how to use your vs you're!!

I'm guessing Kevin's cater waiter job comes from his mom's restaurant or wherever she works. I get the feeling the McCue's are getting a bit fed up with Kevin's lazy ass and it seems like he's been given small jobs to sort of reimburse them. (Or maybe even Dot's ready for him to make some cash of his own.) Kevin and Dot have certainly been babysitting Emmitt a lot more lately.

Also, Kevin never reappears on camera after work. I wonder if he's worried about being called out for getting a "job" after months and months of claiming he didn't have to work outside of the vlogs - especially after that click-bait title a few weeks ago: Kevin's New Job! He seems like the ultra-sensitive type who would be embarrassed.

Well, let's see if my comment to her latest video is deleted or not. This is what I commented:

"Nice to see Kevin FINALLY trying to contribute financially(if only marginally) to their lives. Who knows...... a catering aide today, a restaurant manager/owner in a few years...... since Kevin has a passion for the culinary arts, he will do well to invest his time in building some sort of career in the restaurant industry....... maybe even get a chef's degree from a reputable culinary school........ start building towards SOME sort of a career path....... how much longer is he going to ride on Datev's coattails? Or his parents'?"

Wondering what sort of a backlash I will get for it.

If Kevin took on even the simplest PT job, they would have more money to actually travel on their own and build up their travel vlogger resumes. Instead, they do nothing but wait around for free trips to be handed to them. I'm sure they see their views are pretty awful when they are home and the numbers are so much better when they are traveling/or with friends who don't live there.

It's as if they won't put any effort into their channel if it means "real" work. Remodeling the shed was a novelty, but I don't think most people really aren't interested in living that way.

•didn't mention Kevin's parents paid the rent
•didn't mention they don't earn enough money to make it on their own

Listen, getting through your twenties is freaking hard. Alli Speed, for example, is incredibly lucky to have been financially stable by the time she was 21-22. But that's not the norm at all.
I would've had SO much more respect for Dot if she had just been real and, frankly, it would have made for a much interesting article. You know, things didn't work out the way the planned them, nothing is certain, we are just trying to find our place in the world sort of thing. Even that is sugarcoating things to a degree, but it still has more truth to it than all the bs she wrote for that article.

Ever since the shed Q&A videos I've been seeing Datev so different than I did before.

I thought she was a free spirited, creative and endearing individual. Since watching the vlogs since the Q&A's I can't help but see someone who is slightly condescending, a bit aloof and a bit self righteous. Mind you, when she is around Kevin, I think that only brings out these traits.

Reading that article for Contiki makes me wonder how she truly views herself. She painted a completely different person than what she seems to portray in her vlogs.

I think the only one who is keeping it real over there is Kelly. She doesn't mince words or is afraid to send a message with her facial expressions. I'm going to keep watching for her and hope that Datev comes to her senses.

Well what I think about these videos is the opposite from everyone here. I don't particularly care for kev but I love their videos. So peaceful, I love datev. I guess we can't all agree
