molangflower wrote:I love my 3ds, but it actually hurts to play with the 3D on. People who play with it 3D activated must have amazing eyes haha. Wish I had the XL, but mine does the job.
HOWEVER, I feel like the camera isn't the best quality. Does anyone else have that problem?
My eyes water when I play with 3D on, even with the lowest. Sometimes, I just turn it on long enough, to see how 3D will look on one game or scene, then I switch it off.
My 3DS takes horrible pictures! I know it isn't a camera, but it's a bit disappointing. It's really too grainy and reminds me too much of those flip phone cameras, back from 2007.
So, did anyone get Yoshi's New Island? I'm a little bit newer to the gaming world, so I've never played the original, but it's getting a lot of hate. I've personally enjoyed it, from what I've played so far. I believe I'm on world 4, atm. I think it's a fun and cute game.

Meant to pick it up this wkend, but never got around to it. Will definitely do so this upcoming wkend.

Don't listen to the reviews! I think it's good in its own way. Defiantly a fun game to play when you're bored, or if you're just a Yoshi fan in general. I don't think you'll regret it, especially because you said a few posts ago, you've played one of the previous games. Yeah, it can be a little similar (as all games in a series can be), but I don't think it's anything that can turn a previous fan off, completely.

I just posted this in the video game thread but I'll post here too... Recent 3DS buyer and so far I've purchased Pokemon X and Animal Crossing New Leaf. Anyone still playing Pokemon? I feel a little late to the party now that it's been out for a while... I'm also kicking myself for losing my White cartridge because apparently you need B/W/B2/W2 to transfer IV gen pokes to X/Y. At least that gives me a good excuse to go out and get either W2/B2...

I just got a Modest German Eevee with perfect IVs in HP and SpAtk so I'm trying to figure out which evolution to go with... really loving this Wonder Trade feature.
I'm so excited for the remakes! I'm def going with Sapphire, since that's what I had originally. So glad the secret bases are making a return.

tbh, my 3DS is just a machine to play Animal Crossing on.
I have Pokemon X/Y (forgot what version) that I've stopped playing because I couldn't beat one gym leader.
Really excited for the new Super Smash! (love this thread so I can ideas for new games to pick up)
Ugh I'm so bummed about this (and yes I know it's not the end of the world but ahh!) I'm going to be in America for a year in a few weeks and I'm going to miss all the awesome games like smash bros/pokemon etc etc while I'm there! I'm going to be taking my ds, but the games are region-locked and I don't know if I'd be able to download them as it will be in a different country! So depressing.
I have been playing zelda recently and its so addicting! although right now im stuck on a level haha. I want to get Pokemon at some point and Animal Crossing.
I've gotten a crap load of 3ds games since I got mine. But my favorites are pokemon x/y (I have y) and Animal Crossing. I actually got a 3ds specifically to be able to play Animal Crossing. (Been obsessed with it for years and have all the games in the series).
Sorry if this has been mentioned before but does anyone have Harvest Moon? I heard it's similar in some ways to Animal Crossing but idk if I should go for it or not.
I don't like that series. I love animal crossing until it wears off, and when AC:WW came out I saw Harvest moon on the ds and bought it because I thought it would be the same. It's not. To me Harvest moon is a lot like that farming game on fb or something similar, it's completely different to animal crossing, and if you wanna try it out, buy it used or something to get a feel for it first in case you don't like it.
Snap. I've been curious about Magical World just because I'm Disney obsessed... I'd have to look into the rest of them, I'm not too familiar except for Tomodachi Life. It seems like The Sims but with Miis?
Well, I do have Pokemon X. I don't really need Y though... except for the legendary, but hopefully I can trade for that instead of buying a whole other game.

Yeah, I've played every version since second gen (well, I didn't finish White) and it's very similar to the others but with a lot of improvements. The graphics are great and the use of 3D is limited but awesome when it is used. I thought it was a lot easier than previous versions, and now that I've gotten past the E4 I've been a bit bored with the post-game, which is not usually the case for me with other games in the past. But the use of wireless/internet is really awesome, especially for random battles and trades. If you're familiar enough with the franchise already there's enough of the same but also new stuff for it to be worth it.

Yes, Pokemon X/Y is my favorite of the series so far. As bits mentioned, graphics are great! Finally evolved past the little bitty characters seen from above. And I love being able to change clothes and hair. Pokemon Amie is a great feature. If you've always wanted to see pokemon up close, you'll like it. You get to pet them, feed them, and play some mini games. And your 3ds can detect your face in good lighting, and you can make faces at them.
I also love the O-Powers feature. Especially the one that allows you to increase the amount of money you win in trainer battles. There's plenty of other powers as well. Also, trading, link battles, super training. Plenty of new stuff.
The gameplay seems easier than some of the past games, but it's still pretty challenging at times. The trick is mastering what types are weak/strong against each other. As I'm sure you can tell, I highly recommend it.
As for Kirby Triple Deluxe, I think it's pretty fun. It's deceptively easy at times, but it can be hard finding every single item if youre the completionist type. And some of the levels have forced me to consult the online walkthroughs lol. It's a great way to kill time if you're looking for something to play for 15-30 minutes, but you can also get sucked in and end up playing longer. Just depends what you wanna do.
Have any of you played A Link Between Worlds? I pre-ordered it so I was one of the first people to get it here when it was released but as soon as I started playing I was so bored, I want to play it more since I'm at the beginning.
And do you guys know any similar games to Fire Emblem: Awakening? (I know there are more Fire Emblem games but they're not available anymore) I'm obsessed with it.
McQueen. wrote:I was pretty set on getting Tomodachi Life but the general consensus is that it gets really, really stale after the first week or so. I've never been into the Sims and that's essentially what it is. I've been watching LP's for a few of the games and I'm really interested in Kirby TD. Yoshi's New Island looks really fun as well despite getting negative reviews for not being innovative enough. I don't have the original so tbh I don't really care about that. I want MPIT strictly for the nostalgia because I grew up with the series.
Have you tried the Tomodachi Life demo yet? I'm just downloading it now so I don't have an opinion either way. I guess that doesn't help the staleness questions but I've been watching some LPs that have been going on for a while now...

McQueen. wrote:Just a heads up, the deal is online. Separate orders are required if you want more than two.
Did you decide to go with any?
I'm still stuck between Disney and Tomodachi, just I won't be out as much money if they are awful, but I also want to get something I can play consistently for a while. I'm thinking about Zelda because I've never played anything in that franchise before.
