I understand that authors are their babies or whatever but you don't have to always come out being upset because someone called it x trope 🤷🏿‍♀️ you know who you writing for
Both things can be true. To act otherwise is just reductive and boring. Like, each genre has it's tropes and instalove is really big and is pretty divided; some people hate it, others may not care or even like it (I don't, personally). But acting like the critique is only drowning out brown/black praise when YOU specifically chose to go forward with that trope is annoying.

Take the critique and keep stepping. Focus on the people who are loving it.

I still remember last year when Tiana made this video where she admonished people for not following Black booktubers and recommended many. But the thing is she asked for Black booktubers to drop their links on Twitter so she could create this video. Like you don't watch those folks either! That's performative af.

They always say those sentences, and then in their wrap-up "I didn't get to all the books I wanted to this month..." but every book that they *did* read is white.

Omg I hate those thread, that's how I know your not every trying to look for them. Yes, maybe it was nice to look for these creators but you don't even have black creators on your subscription that you actually like watch it 🙃

Anyone fancy making a performative black history month bingo board? I feel like there's so much stuff we can predict people will do/ say.

And when they do unhaul them are quick to gloss over as quickly as possible.

This panel had a lot of dead air moments. It felt like the agents and editors didn't really wanna be there

Question: what happened to the books rants and raves thread? Did it get moved like the twitter one? I wanted to look at an old book rec and can't find it.
