Surprised with Casey doing this to other vegan bloggers with low subs account..the heck with youtubers stupid drama

I definitely agree. Unfortunately, so many people I know have been "turned off" or turned away from veganism because they associate it with Freelee and other well known vegans that are quote militant, aggressive, and judgmental. Because of that, they don't bother to look further into the lifestyle to actually find out how wonderful and important it is. That's the problem with Freelee seemingly being the "face" of veganism. Negativity and head on attacks may draw some people towards the lifestyle, but for most people, they need positive encouragement and informative facts to truly get involved rather than being told they're the scum of the earth just because they don't listen to Freelee. That's why I so love the vegans present on social media that have very positive and informative attitudes.Dandelion wrote:I agree that someone who already is, or wants to be a vegan will find a different role model if Freelea puts them off. But it happens all the time that people are introduced to veganism by a person they are interested in, say a youtuber or blogger, and if they like and admire that person they may decide to give a vegan diet a try just because of this person. Someone like Freelea, on the other hand, is horrible enough to repel many people and give vegans a bad name. I know some people actually find Freelea inspiring but I think to most people she is a turn off because she is so vindictive and militant. It's a shame because she has a large following and could do much more for the cause. But ironically she does more damage than good.Chloe_Bean wrote:^ I've never heard of anyone who was vegan and stopped because they didn't want to be associated with Freelee. I do see people say they want to be vegan but Freelee turns them off but I find that to be a cop out anyway, if you really wanted to be vegan one annoying person wouldn't stop you, that's ridiculous and just an excuse.
And if people think there is only one way to do veganism that's on them, there are plenty of other youtubers and a ton of information out there, it's up to them to do their research.
And many who went vegan can attest to the opposite. So what is your point? Eating meat and eggs makes people nicer? No need to disrespect veganism just because you don't like Freelee.Stoneofstones wrote:You know these fruit nuts have a messed up brain, they are cranky and think they are right about everything. I guarantee if they ate a little meat or at least went octo-lavo the cloudiness would lift and they wouldn't be such a=holes. Many people who have transitioned from vegan diets can attest to this.
The difference is though, is that you're not talking to a thousands of teenage girls and making them feel like shit. Unless of course you do have a YT channel and you're as popular as Freelee is. The majority of her following are teenagers, and they're being pressured by her to take on the vegan lifestyle. It is still their own choice ultimately, but at that age, they are extremely vulnerable and don't like people judging them.bluelipstick wrote:I have always thought the militant approach wouldn't convert anyone to veganism but I gotta say that my approach of not being a 'preachy vegan' (I HATE that term) hasn't converted anyone. Freelee's has! I'm not a fan of the woman or her approach but she's converting more than I am!
I've so far managed to put my fiance off pork and lamb and that is it. If I get anywhere near talking passionately about veganism I get accused of being preachy, when I think I'm far from it. So I can't win.
Dandelion, whoever you are, thank you. I'm stuck here (still) writing that damn paper, the dog is apparently attached to my right knee, and my husband is driving us both bonkers because he's painting our bedroom and he forgot to buy some stuff he needs ("preparation", anyone?Dandelion wrote:![]()
