I feel sad for her ever since her mom died you can tell she has lost a spark. I feel like she's not nearly as private as Ares. (I doubt his name is real either) Just from watching occasionally we know about her family, her dad & mom, siblings where she worked/actually some parts of Canada. But Ares really doesn't seem to want anything about his life public, literally all we know is he's super hot and is in the military. I think it's him that wanted her to lie about things in the beginning. Maybe they didn't think they'd get such a following, who knows?

His name is Alain Berger and he's a professional hockey player for the SC Bern (Switzerland). He has played two seasons for the Ontario Hockey League. He had a three-year contract with them beginning in 2011, but went off contract in 2012 so he could go back to Switzerland to play with his current club.

I watch Zars vlogs sometimes, for sure she's milking her personal family hardships quite relentless, resulting in the usual "OMG! THIS IS THE END!" thumbnails, but hey it's Youtube. Nowadays before you watch a video first you have to go to the comments anway to see what's up because nowadays most thumbnails are absolute useless drama bubbles without any relation to the actual video content.

Apart from that I like her. Yes she's a bit high maintenance and spotlighty, but she has a great humor and I'm happy for Alain and wish them well.

It IS weird, I've always found her and them to be so fake and insincere, and really I'm not surprised they're using fake names.

OMG! I can't believe I never knew that about him. Do you have any more info on him/her? This is so interesting to me as I always pictured him being in business or something. After doing some googling I'm seriously kind of shocked. He's a semi-famous hockey player but does a vlogging thing online where he goes by Ares? This is so bizarre.

No, the military thing is not a lie. Switzerland has a militia army and hence conscription. So every able male over 18 goes through military training and after that has annual or bi-annual courses. So yes, Alain is currently in the army, and will be for the rest of his life. Active until about 35 for lower ranks, until about 45 for officers, after that semi-active in the reserves. - Hence the saying "Switzerland doesn't have an army, Switzerland is an army".

Also, Ares is a nickname that has been stuck. I would not call using a nickname a lie. Or would you consider to use "leeef123" as a forum nick instead of your real name also a lie?

But my username on blogging website is hardly comparable to telling thousands of viewers your name is Ares or Zar for years. I don't tell people it's my name, I don't go by it, and I'm pretty sure everyone on here is aware me and everyone else is just using a username. Never have I heard him say it's a nickname for Alain? So maybe not straight up lying but to me it's lying by leading his viewers to believe his name is Ares Bond. It seems like it was a lie made up by him and zar (sara) to give them matching names? These two clearly have wanted to hide almost everything about themselves, which makes their videos come off increasingly false and is all around odd to be daily vloggers.

hahah it really does sound too similar to arse. I always thought it was weird that it wasn't pronounced like Air-ees since the name Ares is from greek mythology, I figured maybe in swiss/germans pronounce it differently. I guess it was just to try to rhyme with Zar though

I've watched them occasionally for years, basically since she started vlogging because she left a comment on my now deleted channel back then trying to promote herself/be nice. I think that she still leaves comments on tons of different youtubers videos trying to promote. And in like 5 years this is still the first time that I've heard that this is his name and I wouldn't know her name if I didn't see it here, but on his wikipedia page it says that they're engaged so obviously people do know but i've never seen the name alain in any comments. Maybe they blacklisted it so comments that say their names or anything about hockey can't be posted? Anyways it's all odd to me but they seem like nice people in general, just not super authentic
