Re: ItsWayPastMyBedTime (Carrie Fletcher)
if she continues to target young girls and their mums; it might sell well as demographically these are the book buyers (pls correct me if I am outdated in the stats).

Re: ItsWayPastMyBedTime (Carrie Fletcher)
I was thinking about how many book sales she'll get from her fanbase, and then I thought of the natural progression of how YA books are being treated these days...that is to say, what if it ends up being made into a movie? I bet she'd play her main character since it's likely a self-insert anyway. That's all scary to think about.
Re: ItsWayPastMyBedTime (Carrie Fletcher)
Thing is her book doesn't sound like a typically YA book? It's certainly not aimed at pre teens or even teens which are her main demographic so I have no idea how well this will sell?
Nevermind! Didn't realise it was on the website. Australian $14 is pretty decent if you ask me! Especially since it says you can stream + download!

There are so many reasons her latest video annoys me so much.
There's the obnoxious self-praise of how busy she is and how little time for free time and meeting friends her job(s) leave her, as she comes home from Les Mis at around 1am and of course has to sleep until 11 to be fully rested, which realistically gives her much more sleep than most working people. And then there are only four hours for her to do anything before she has to get back. So naturally, meeting friends in that time - which could easily be prolonged - is impossible. Again, I'm just thinking of normal working people working low-paying low-prestige jobs where workdays can stretch to 10 or 12 hours, which means getting up early and coming home late and that don't include a lot of midday free tIme.
Also, to name just another annoying aspect: the chocolate portrait. "You wouldn't rather have your mum do One Direction or Johnny Depp, but me?!" There's just that niggling undertone of "obviously I'm a much better role model".
There is so much more but I'll leave it at that for now. Don't want my first post (hi, by the way ) to become too... ranty.

And I realise I made a formatting error with the video. Mods, feel free to rectify that.

Oh yeah, her busy thing drives me crazy too. She talks proudly like she's more busy than your average person when she's actually living the normal life for someone working full-time. It must be new to her. Heck, I'm just a boring old waitress/uni student and I'm often working 10 hour days, split shifts so I'm coming home at midnight and getting up at 5am for the breakfast shift.CaptainDread wrote:

I wonder if Carrie has ever had a job, not a musical or acting one, but like a boring part-time job as a teenager. I feel as though she hasn't. She acts like it's so novel to have to work a lot, it's almost embarrassing.
Re: ItsWayPastMyBedTime (Carrie Fletcher)
That whole charade of "I can't believe people queue for hours to meet me and make chocolate portraits of me, I'm nothing special!" bothered me. It was supposed to come across as humbled and undeserving, but to me it just screamed "You're all idiots for waiting in line to meet me and spending you're time buying me presents. I can't believe you all live your lives worshipping me lololol". If people feel that you're so special that they want to spend time and money trying to meet you, let them. Don't laugh at them for it and tell them they're daft to do so.

Re: ItsWayPastMyBedTime (Carrie Fletcher)
She's obviously set this up to happen. In the past, she's been pretty blatant about asking people to retweet and campaign for her to play certain characters on stage (Hermione) so I wouldn't put it past her to create a new career opportunity through this book. I recall someone asking her what the main character of her book would look like and she replied by saying that she looks very much like her! She even dressed herself and Pete as the main character and another character from her book recently.jitterbug wrote:I was thinking about how many book sales she'll get from her fanbase, and then I thought of the natural progression of how YA books are being treated these days...that is to say, what if it ends up being made into a movie? As someone who has studied creative writing to degree level, it's always a bad idea to base a character on yourself. The whole thing sounds a bit strange (including having a character in YA fiction who is 27.)

The main character of her book looks like her. That's so typical I almost can't believe it.

Re: ItsWayPastMyBedTime (Carrie Fletcher)
I don't get why she leads us to believe Les Miz requires so many hours. She's been in the show for years now so obviously there's no more rehearsals unless there are new cast members etc. So basically she needs to be there around an hour before the show starts and maybe an hour after if she does stage door. And yes, it's a very long show but she's not in it the entire way through. I'd say it's probably 5ish hours (assuming the show is about 3 hours + an hour of prep before and an hour of changing out of costume and stage door after) of being in the theater per day, unless it's a matinee day. So she works less than the typical 9-5.
Re: ItsWayPastMyBedTime (Carrie Fletcher)
I always brace myself at the start of every video because I know it's going to go from silence to a sudden loud "I WENT TO.." or "MY SISTER-IN-LAW..." I wonder if she just underestimates her microphone or if she always speaks so loud. I have to admit I really like that she doesn't do the usual "Hey guys!" or "Good morning guys!" complete with fake cheesy grin, which is the way most YouTubers force their way into videos these days.

It may be a stage acting thing. Projecting your voice and all that. But yeah I always have to turn the volume right down before pressing play on her videos or my ears get it.

Does anyone know when she's leaving Les Mis btw? I really wanna see it but idk if I can put up with her. I want to be able to fully enjoy it. Petty I know but I'd rather wait and see it when I know I'll 100% enjoy it and not be put off by her presence.emilystew wrote:I wonder what she will do after les mis? I'm not too sure when she's leaving.
I went to see it last year, the show is amazing!

I've seen the show twice and she was playing Eponine both times. Even if you aren't a fan of hers, I'd still recommend going. I thought the show was amazing and everyone performs well, including Carrie.tiah wrote:Does anyone know when she's leaving Les Mis btw? I really wanna see it but idk if I can put up with her. Remember she's playing a character and she's not the main character anyway, so it's not all going to be about her. I just watched the performance as a whole and kept my opinion of her as a you tuber separate.
Re: ItsWayPastMyBedTime (Carrie Fletcher)
Thanks guys ^
I think I might just go see it but mentally block her out haha.
For some reason I thought she was leaving earlier this year though and she never did? Not entirely sure why I had that thought in my head though :/

She was originally meant to leave in June this year but they offered for her to stay an additional year and she accepted, so you're not going crazy hahatiah wrote:Thanks guys ^

I also saw her in Les Mis this year before the recent cast change and I thought she was the best female cast member vocally, at least. You don't really see much of her personality as I think she's a good actress. You should go see Les Mis, tho, since I'm a HUGE fan of the current Fatine She's great.
