Gigi has made her own videos on this subject, if you would like to take a look:
Transgender Q+A #1:
Transgender Q+A #2:
Q: What does Gigi identify as?
A: Gigi identifies as a transgendered woman.
Q: What does this mean?
A: This requires an understanding of gender and sex. Sex is a physical thing--determined by your genes. Gender is what you, personally, identify as, and is not necessarily determined by genes. Although Gigi was born physically male (sex), the gender that she identifies with mentally is the female one. This means that Gigi is a WOMAN, and should be treated and referred to as one. She prefers the feminine pronoun (she/her).
Q: When did Gigi come out?
A: Gigi released her coming out video, “I AM TRANSGENDER” in December of 2013:
Q: Didn’t Gigi used to be known as Gregory, who identified as a gay male?
A: Yes, when she first came on youtube, Gigi referred to herself as Gregory, and said she identified as a gay male. However, Gigi has stated that her true identity is that of a transgendered woman. Coming out is a very difficult thing, as is coming to terms with who you truly are. Gigi’s identity as a woman should not be dismissed simply because she did not initially state that she was trans.
Q: What processes has Gigi gone through during her transition?
A: Gigi is currently undergoing hormone replacement therapy (HRT). She has also legally changed her name from Gregory to Gigi. She has gotten several plastic surgery procedures to feminize her facial features, as well as breast augmentation. Gigi may be going through vocal therapy to feminize her voice, and has had her adam’s apple shaved down. Gigi has made several videos addressing her plastic surgery:
Q: Has Gigi has sex reassignment surgery (SRS)?
A: This is a very insensitive and unintentionally transphobic question. Transgender actress Laverne Cox explains the issue here: http://www.salon.com/2014/01/07/laverne ... er_people/
Essentially, the obsession with whether or not a trans person has had surgery objectifies trans people and ignores all of the other issues they face every day. You would not walk up to a random woman on the street and ask her about her genitalia, and thus should not ask this question of Gigi. As far as we are aware, based on the timeline of Gigi’s hormone replacement therapy, she most likely has not had the surgery yet, but, again, this question is inappropriate. If you would like to learn more about SRS and life as a trans woman, you can check out this transgendered youtuber, PRINCESSJOULES, who has documented her experience with SRS in her videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/princessjoules.
Q: Why are you defending Gigi? This is the TRASH A GURU section. Don’t be so PC.
A: Recognizing Gigi’s rights as a transgender woman is not defending her, it’s basic human decency. We have no issue trashing Gigi for her lies, photoshop, fakeness, etc., but bashing her gender indentity or refusing to recognize it is NOT okay, nor is it allowed on this forum.

Amazing job! It'll be so much easier to direct people to this post when they start saying ignorant shit (because you know it will happen again).

Re: Transgender FAQs and Understanding
Thanks for all the info! I have to say though, although I'm not approving of it whatsoever! Sometimes I see people comment on her IG say for example that she is gay - then literally 20 people jump on this person, not only that, they swear and call this person all kinds of names - I don't get how this makes them any different though? I wish people on IG would just chill and perhaps send the person the link to this thread. It's very informative especially for people like me who doesn't know any transgender people and doesn't really know what it's about, what the correct terms of speaking is etc.
Please bear with me, English is my second language

Re: Transgender FAQs and Understanding
I was actually very happy when Gigi came out as a TG as I long suspected it. Something about her demeanour was very female even in the beginning of her youtube career. When I used to watch her I always felt like she was just any other female beauty guru "essence wise". I wish her the best.

Transgender FAQs and Understanding
Okay I'm curious about something and don't really know where to ask anywhere but here. I do not want insult or harm anyone so please no one jump down my throat, I just want to know and educate myself on the subject.
Hypothetically, let's pretend Gigi or anyone with a similar story had a boyfriend when she still identified as a gay man all the way up until now. That would mean the relationship changed from homosexual to heterosexual, yes? And if so, it changed to a heterosexual relationship when she started identifying as a transgendered woman, right?!
-Again, I just want to make sure I understand so please no one hate me and I apologize if I came off ignorant, -phobic, or anything like that.

Hi. I believe it would have, if she had a relationship with a gay man, but decided to go through with her transition. The relationship would go from homosexual to heterosexual.
But this also brings questions up... Would a man who identified as homosexual stay with someone who was trans and identified as a woman? Would he then be bisexual instead of homosexual?
Its a giant can of worms that is probably not something you wanna get into.
I'm sure there's tons of resources online that could address these types of questions.
Don't worry. Most everyone has questions, and it's okay to be curious!

Re: Transgender FAQs and Understanding
To understand a topic is also to seek others opinions as well with that being said. I think TS Madison her videos are real and raw to what she wants to share pertaining to her journey which has been longer than others. She's a seasoned trans woman who I respect. She also has opinions on the word that gets some and especially younger trans women especially a massive coronary. Check out her videos: (Best comment ever "Shoulders as wide as my Beep back window door")
(There's more concerns than just the T word its one concern but in USA there's others as well)

Do trans people support Gigi? Many don't support Caitlyn Jenner.

Re: Transgender FAQs and Understanding
I don't think that asking about celebrity genitalia is -phobic anything. We ask about celeb book jobs and speculate about celeb privates constantly. People are obsessed with everyone's genitalia. It's pretty harsh to call is inadvertently trans-phobic. In fact, it's singling them out for special treatment compared to every other celeb. Especially in the case of Gigi who loves to show off her perky chest that she had no problem discussing. I'm cool with the fact that she's a woman either way (I'm 100% cool with all genders and orientations being bi-gender and bisexual myself), but I'm not cool with the fact that asking a question is magically taboo because she's a woman who might have slightly different parts. No question should ever be taboo. That creates ignorance, and special treatment undermines equality.
Re: Transgender FAQs and Understanding
Depends on the demographic (younger age, M2F, higher SES, for e.g.), I would think. Personally, I do not think that she is relatable at all in that most trans people cannot so easily afford the extensive plastic surgery that Gigi has had lavished upon herself.dollhouse wrote:Do trans people support Gigi?
