Room Colour Help?

Post by beau misere »

This is really stupid, but I kinda need help.

So my room right now is a dark aqua colour and I hate it with a passion (it looked different in the can lmao). I have light hardwood flooring, chocolate brown furniture, white doors/closet doors, white accents, and my bedspread is a white comforter with zebra pillow cases and a blanket. So essentially zebra bedding.

I was thinking about just painting it white. But I wanted to know what y'all think. Thanks :love2:

My new room is like a creamy white, and I like the colour, maybe you would too.

I would paint 3 of the walls white and have 1 wall an accent colour :)

I would suggest taking a bunch of paint strips (or better yet, samples). Tape it to your wall and inspect it under different lighting conditions in your room: natural lighting and whatever your room lighting is (fluorescent, incandescent etc.). Lighting is a huge factor in how paint ends up looking in your room and this will give you an idea and allow you to eliminate a lot of colour choices. Also, keep in mind that when you're painting, the colour has a tendency to turn out darker than what it is on the can.

My colour suggestions would either be either a green or gray (I prefer blue toned grays). Something like Benjamin Moore Wales Green or Pigeon Gray. Bejamin Moore paint is quite expensive, you can get a colour match for it at Home Depot - my room now is a colour match for Pigeon Gray.

My room is a light cool, blue based grey color. I love it with my black furniture, white accents, and tan carpet. I really like it.
