Why does everyone pander to her so much?
Her boyfriend has brought her a gift and her friends are sending her flowers and a cactus to congratulate her on taking exams... Its not like she's doing something revolutionary, I am 21 and I've just had a stressful period doing my dissertation and other uni work I wasn't receiving gifts and endless praise of people. So many people on twitter are calling her inspirational for doing exams and juggling her lifestyle asif most people don't do this all of the time. She loves bigging up how stressful and how hard working she is that's why she's posted her exam questions and a picture of her writing on a whiteboard. It's so odd. Well done Grace for doing something that every other person your age is doing.
Granted I'm not running a business but shes failing massively at that so she hardly deserves praise in that area. People our age are juggling different part time jobs on minimum wage and going to Uni or going through deep things like cancer or a loss of a family member etc. but she gets praise for going to the gym, going to uni and running a business. Even now TALA is failing her minions are saying things like 'guys don't you realise she is doing HARD exams leave her alone'. She chose to launch the business during exams and her personal circumstances shouldn't mean people can't get refunds or receive an order.
This!
Also to her minions, she does music... Music. So hard....
I don’t get why they all suck up to her and pander too. I completed my final year of a masters of chemistry course while working two jobs (cause unlike queen grace my poor working class parents couldn’t bank roll Me and my shit businesses), playing a sport and struggling with a severe ed/ mental health issues. AND I STILL MANAHED TO BE POLITE TO PEOPLE.
grace just seems to rude to girls who criticise the way they’ve been treated over there orders and is very condescending, and think she’s so entitled.
Urgh just hate grace now. She used to be more relatable but now is showing her true colours
To be fair, music at Oxford is no easier than other humanities degrees at Oxford like history, English etc. They get the same amount of academic work and I know music has a bad rep as a degree but Oxford musicians are usually super talented and work so hard (apart from Grace it seems lol).
What pisses me off is that she creates a really bad impression of what it's like to be an Oxford humanities student. I have Oxford music friends who work their fingers to the bone managing to cram in rehearsals, instrumental practice and writing musical compositions on top of all the academic work and really give a damn about their subject. She seems to have just swanned in having received an expensive education full of opportunities, takes all the essay based modules (which only require essays, not much creativity or practice) and probably barely spends the time and care those actually require.
It's really unfair how someone like her can just cheat the system by reapplying for a less competitive subject (still hard to get in tho, the acceptance rate for all Oxford subjects is very low) and getting in just because she went to an expensive school with very good teachers. I genuinely love my subject and worked super hard to get here, but she doesn't care at all and it makes me so sad. There are probably loads of wonderful state school applicants who love their subject who don't get in because mega privileged people like her take up places without even caring about which subject they do, as long as the degree is from OxFoRd
I know I’m pulling a quote from a few pages back but it just wanted to second the points you’ve made! It really frustrates me to see music being slated as an easy degree when it reality it’s really tough if you’re at a respectable uni (which oxford obviously is). I hate how Grace is making arts degrees seem like a joke. I did a music degree at a well respected uni (not oxbridge but one of the typical “oxbridge reject” unis) and tbh it was so much tougher than my MSc in bio psych (random subject pivot I know lol long/weird story).
But also on what you said about essays - personally I always found essay modules harder/meatier than performance or composition but the thing is with performance and composition is that you have to be passionate about practicing or composing from day 1 of the module, which Grace was obviously never going to do because it requires being motivated by something other than egotism and money. An essay/academia based module seems a lot easier at the start of term as is easy to put it off until the last minute and then spend less than a week writing the essay or cramming for the exam. If she was focusing on her studies, writing genuinely impressive academic work and engaging with existing literature in any meaningful way, then it would be very hard work especially at Oxford. Oxford/Cambridge humanities degrees produce some of the world’s most important academics. However, I cant imagine Grace having any interest in academia at this point - after all, she only did a music degree in the first place so she could say she’d been to Oxford. She’s just doing the bare minimum she has to in order to get a grade good enough for her to be smug about.
If she does do well it’s either cause she’s faked not putting effort in so she looks like a genius when she does well, or she just managed to fluke it and there is no justice in this world lol.
