Skin Care Routines?

Post by OhhNoo! » Fri Aug 24, 2012 8:23 am

I believe there was a post about this on the old forum.

My skin type: combo/oily, but prone to blemishes. I've used quite a few different things throughout the years, but I am finally finding products my skin likes. I've also realized that the fewer products I use, the happier my skin is.

Cleanse: I switch between the two Aveeno bar soaps. One is for acne and the other is moisturizing. I use the moisturizing one when my skin is on the dry side. I prefer the acne bar over their Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser... I tried that a while ago and I had to return it because it left this odd film on my skin. I also use cleansing wipes to remove my makeup before I wash my face at night.

Moisturize: During the day I use the Aveeno Positively Radiant moisturizer with SPF 15. I don't have a nighttime moisturizer at the moment, but I'm on the search for a decent one.

Treat: I use Lush Grease Lightning as a spot treatment. I like that it comes in such a big bottle for such a reasonable price.

I used to use masks all the time, but I haven't used one in a while.

What do you guys use? :)

Skin type: Normal, sensitive as hell eyes though.

Mornings:
  • Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliator.
  • Clarins One-Step Cleanser (it's a toner too so I just apply to a pad and sweep over face, no rinsing needed).
  • Soap & Glory Supereyes eye gel - It's okay but not the best, trying to use it up before I get something else. I don't have many issues with eye area thankfully so I can skip it altogether if I want. I keep spoons in the fridge if I feel puffy though.
  • Caudalie Vinosource serum for when my skin feels really dry - usually after waxing.
  • Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream for moisturiser.
  • Boots No7 Anti Dark Spot SPF 30 suncream is also a staple right now.
I'll probably invest in the 8 hour cream with SPF for winter months.

Night:
  • DHC Deep Cleansing Oil or Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean cleansing milk to remove makeup. The Shu Uemura cleansing oil is probably the best I've used but a L'Oreal boycott is making me look for other stuff.
  • Boots Botanics Rosewater toning spritz - super refreshing and just what I need at night.
  • Boots Botanics Hydrating All Night cream with Brightning Hibiscus - it's quite thick and moisturising, not bad for something I grabbed on a whim. :) When it's used up I'll just use 8 Hour Cream at night.
  • I skip eye cream stuff at night, it makes my eyes too gunky in the mornings.
Twice a week I'll use whatever face mask I have lying around/currently trying out. At the moment it's Soap & Glory deep pore cleansing wash as a 5-10 minute mask. I really like Apivita masks too.

I guess I use a lot on my face huh.

For now I use:

Morning
Bioelements decongestant cleanser(don't buy this,it really stings your eyes)
Babor toner
MD Formulations Glycare lotion
Vichy SPF 50+
Etude House cooling eye stick with SPF 30

Evening
Remove eye-makeup with Bioderma
Double cleanse with Bioelements cleanser
Babor toner
MD Formulations Glycare lotion
Vitamin E oil
La roche posay eyecream

I have oily, acneic skin, and have used this regimen for about 6 months and it isn't working for me(most of it,anyway). I'm awaiting some stuff in the mail which I will switch to. I hope this stupid acne-shite goes away. :boohoo:

I have a mild, moisturizing cleanser with Vitamin E (cannot recall name, some cheap drugstore product) and another lotion for acne, Eveline Cosmetic's SOS deep cleanser. I cleanse every morning and night using at least one of these, depending on my skins condition. My skin looks quite healthy, but I'm still prone to heavy blackheads. I'm considering purchasing an exfoliator with glycolic acid.

You should try an AHA serum instead. :)

I don't see your point. Glycolic acid IS an AHA.

Yes,I know, but instead of buy an AHA exfoliator(which you use a couple of times a week),a serum you will use everyday. Might be more effective. :)

My skin type: Combination/Oily and prone to acne, also when my skin gets dry from either the weather or a product it gets REALLY dry as in Im peeling layers of dry skin off.

Cleanse: I usually use Cetaphil since it's pretty good and easy to get, but while I was in Europe this dermatologist recommended Iwostin Purrita face wash so I have been using that. It's alright, probably wouldn't buy it again since it's expensive and didn't do any different than Cetaphil.

Moisturize: Cetaphil Moisturizer, but I only use it when I need it.

Treat: Duac topical cream! Okay if you have acne, you absolutely have to try this cream. I had severe acne, I tried every single product on the market but nothing worked at all so I gave up in buying treatments. The dermatologist recommended this, I wasn't going to buy it because I was sure it wouldn't do much but sweet Jesus this cleared 80% of my acne in a couple days then after 2 weeks or so my face was basically spotless. Everyone complimented me on my skin, I have been told I have skin that people dream about having. Just go on acne.org and read the reviews! It's a bit pricey and hard to buy but it's honestly so worth the try!

Skin type: normal, gets dry in the winter or with too much sun.

In the shower (mornings):
Origins Checks and Balances cleanser, although I've run out and am trying to use up this Willa sample I got in a Birchbox.
I used to use Origins Modern Friction exfoliator twice a week, but I've run out...noticing a pattern here.
Rinsey rinse.

Moisturize: Neutrogena moisturizer for sensitive skin, because I'm afraid I actually have sensitive skin and won't find out until I put some other moisturizer on and it's not fun.

At night: remove makeup with Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover. I only really wear eye makeup and undereye concealer so we good.

I know it's not advanced or anything but this is coming from someone who only started washing their face six months ago. Gross, I know. Before I would just stand under the shower and call that washing.

I have sensitive, acne prone skin. I use the Proactiv system morning and night. In he shower I use two clean and clear cleansers (one of them is the blackhead eraser) and I use a face brush to wash with those. I also use the Proactiv SPF moisturizer.

Oh, don't worry. I did that until I started watching skin care routine videos on YouTube. Then I went overboard with trying new products and my skin began to hate me. The fewer products I use, the happier my skin is :tu:

I agree with that. If I ever try something new, I try to make sure it's as natural as possible because my face honestly didn't need washing with soap for the majority of my life. I'll just stick to the four or five things I use.

I cleanse my face using Lancome's Creme Radiance or Body Shop's Tea Tree Facial Wash.

Then if I feel like it, I use La Prairie's cellular cream platinum rare, cellular eye cream platinum rare, and cellular serum platinum rare. I got those in a gift, as in to say they were a gift with purchase and they sent it to me although I didn't buy anything, but I won't be repurchasing afterwards. Other than that sometimes I use a La Prairie anti aging longevity serum and a Dior hydralife with SPF.

I exfoliate my face using La Prairie essential exfoliator but at the moment I'm using a sample of La Prairie's new cellular mineral face exfoliator.

i have combo/oily skin with history of moderate acne that, having been treated with antibiotics, has become very sensitive

to remove my makeup i use Kose Softymo cleansing oil with a soft cleansing cloth, then i get into the shower to steam my face so i can clean my skin with my clarisonic + first aid beauty cleanser. when i get out i tone with neutrogena's alcohol free toner (in the market for a new toner if anyone has recommendations!).
if i have any blackheads i'll use an extractor, but i try not to go crazy with it. then i'll apply LRP's effaclar duo on my spots. if not i go right into my serum. my favorite is nature's gate C for Yourself, but i'm testing out another organic one my Jeffrey James atm. then i moisturize using Cerave PM lotion. afterwards i apply paula's choice RESIST skin lightening lotion for my scars. once a week i use alpha-h liquid gold.
i wake up with oily skin no matter what i did the night before, so i have to wash my face with cetaphil in the morning. then i apply serum and SPF before i do my makeup.

Skin type: Normal-Combination. Prone to random dry patches & blackheads in the t-zone.

Morning:
- Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser OR Bioderma if I'm strapped for time/lazy lol
- Bobbi Brown Hydrating toner
- MAC Prep + Prime Skin Brightening Serum
- Shiseido Urban Environment UV Protector w/ SPF42
- Nars Pure Sheer SPF Lip treatment

Evening:
- Remove makeup with Bioderma &/or Shu Uemura A/I Cleansing Oil
- Same cleanser as morning
- Same toner as morning
- Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM
- Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance
- MAC Lip conditioner

When I notice something like a zit or blackhead forming, I'll use the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo. I also use the Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid moisturiser 1-2 times a week. Daily use proved too irritating for my cheeks.

Normal skin and I honestly barely use any skin care products because I don't need it

I just use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer, and Neutrogena makeup remover wipes. I have the Neutrogena eye makeup remover but I barely use it. Maybe once or twice a month lol.

Unless I'm in the shower or have makeup on, a lot of the time I'll just use liquid hand soap to wash my face to be honest lol.

Skin type: I have normal skin, I guess? I get oily between my brows and that's about it. I also have rosacea (only moderate, though).

I have a pretty extensive skin care routine compared to most people I know, but I do limit the products I use because I like my skin to have time to breathe, too.

Morning - Skinfood Lemon Brightening Morning Cleanser; Nature Republic Green Tea Toner; Nature Republic Green Tea Emulsion

Evening -
1) Etude House Happy Teatime Milk Tea cleaning cream - only if I wore quite a bit of makeup that day
2) L'oreal Youth Code foaming cleanser (or any foaming cleanser I happen to have at the time) - removes my makeup
3) Spectro Jel Cleanser (unscented) - removes any residue of previous cleanser (if I don't do this step I usually break out)
4) Skinfood Glacier Water toner
5) Shiseido Night Moisure Recharge lotion OR Skinfood Steam Milk Mask cream (depends on my mood that day)
6) Vaseline on sides of nose (I get very dry there)
7) Vaseline lip therapy

Three times a week, in the evening, I will use a mask of some sort. Currently using Skin79 Olive repair mask, Skinfood Egg White pore mask, or a random sheet mask I happen to have kicking around. This will be after toning and before my moisturizer.

I also regularly switch around most of my products aside from my Spectro cleanser and Shiseido lotion.

Spot Treatment: Neutrogena Rapid Clear (I love this in so many ways)

I'm still on my summer routine, which is generally "the simpler, the better."

Morning
*Wash with baking soda
---Seriously, you should try it. It's the best cleanser ever. I use it as a toothpaste, too.
*Cold water splash
---Legitimately important step lol
*Burt's Bees Acne Solutions Toner
*Clean & Clear Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer
---This is a new product I've been trying out lately. It's a light, oil-free gel instead of a cream and it. is. glorious. And it smells like Watermelon. The only negative is the lack of SPF. But since I wear a BB cream with amazing SPF it doesn't bother me
*Skin79 Hot Pink BB Cream

Evening
Remove makeup with coconut oil
Nozxema/St Ives Salicylic Acid Cleanser
Burt's Bees Acne Solutions Toner
CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion
---HG 3 years running
Origins serum as eye cream
---Usually use my serums all over, but it's pretty much a waste during the summer. I don't have AC

I have to step it up in a couple weeks once the weather gets colder. Heavier moisturizers, less salicylic acid, more exfoliating, serums and treatments. Winter is a fun time for skincare.
