Does anyone here suffer from Sleep Apnea? I have severe sleep apnea, or that was what it was diagnosed as several years back. I lost weight, and it seemed to get better then I gained weight, so I still have it but I don't know the degree. I have not done another sleep study to know what level I am at now. I just cannot afford it. I would be curious about other people's experience with the condition. Not just the condition itself, but dealing with the equipment costs, sleep studies, and insurance.
Has anyone had their sleep apnea go away after significant weight loss?
ETA: if I missed that there is already a thread for this, let me know. I searched and didn't find one.

Re: Sleep Apnea
I don't personally but my boyfriend does, he had to get a Cpap machine to monitor his breathing while he is asleep. If he forgets to put it on then he snores very loudly and i can hear his breathing stop.
It seems to get slightly better with some weight loss but for him it's also genetic. His father who isn't overweight has Sleep apnea as well.

Re: Sleep Apnea
Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a complication of PCOS. I don't know if working really hard on the symptoms of your PCOS can better the situation for your sleeping apnea, but it may help.
Two other things: Relaxants such as alcohol or drugs can relax throat muscles (skip the drink at dinner - if you do, I mean!
Don't sleep on your back, your tongue can drop to the back of your mouth.

Pardon my typos, I have a rubbish keyboard.
Re: Sleep Apnea
The bariatric surgery helps to cut on weight loss. As pointed out earlier, if we are obese then we stand a higher risk of contacting sleep apnea. Weight loss can therefore be one of the sleep apnea solutions without cpap.

Not so long ago I came across this problem at first and to be honest, I am feeling lost...
