Bratayley: Goodbye MD. Hello CALI! (Pt 10)

Ugh. The bean bag jumping is so infuriating. Especially while celebrating the birthday of the son they lost, you'd think they'd be extra careful with their remaining children. But, in fact, it's not just Billy and Katie. There were other parents there, and none of them said anything. Are they really so obsessed with their kids being famous that they're willing to risk their safety? I don't get it. And the celebration was really sad. I wish they'd just leave LA and try to have normal lives again.

About Sydney's cover, I have mixed feelings. I remember her mother's speech at Caleb's funeral, and she said Caleb and Sydney would spend hours just talking about a wide range of topics when they were on vacation together, so she thought they had a deep connection and hoped they'd end up together. Also, I think Sydney might have had a crush on Caleb, or at least liked him a little, and she definitely felt close to him and, unlike Amanda or the other girls who had a crush on him, she was good friends with him. What I think happened when he passed is that those feelings were magnified, and she started idolising him and thinking about all the good things that she thinks would have been if he was still here. That's actually kind of what the song is about, and I do believe that's what she feels. Sydney always wears the necklace with Caleb's thumbprint, and Luke has said he wants to get a tattoo dedicated to Caleb when he's old enough, so both siblings took his death very hard and I believe that's genuine. The tribute video, on the other hand, is a little bit too much. It's sweet and she sings the song pretty well and with emotion, but I'm not sure she should commercialise it and I sure hope she doesn't want to be a singer now. And now I'm playing the devil's advocate, but I've seen fan videos with better quality than hers. They have all the LeBlancs' vlogs with footage of them, so maybe they could have worked with that, because I'm sure the LeBlancs have been involved with the cover and would have had no problem with it.

Wow. So spot on about Sydney. I feel exactly the same way-- torn. I think _her_ intentions were good, but the whole thing just reeks of Billy and Katie and their insatiable greed.

And they were throwing pillows up there. When multiple kids were on the ledge. Well, mostly Carson was throwing things. He was instigating most of the reckless stuff.

Hopefully when they get a house it won't have anything to jump off of. Though I don't know what they would do without it.

About a minute into the vlog, Billy tried to say something. Annie says "Be quiet" and he shuts right up!

Miracles happen! Annie had a voice lesson! Maybe Carson saying he wanted them to put on music, "just not Annie", made her think, lol

When Carson said he wanted "not Annie" it was because he was asking Alexa for music to get the girls (Mads and Indy I think) to jump. Right as he said that Annie jumped so he said not her because she was obviously jumping already.

I don't think any of those kids would be foolish enough to say anything against Annie's singing or acting. They know where the $$ comes from.

Amanda recently posted a photo of herself with Luna on Instagram. The comments, predictably, exploded. She had to know that was going to happen when she posted the photo.

It's funny how some fans try to rationalize Annie having a horse that she never visited, even when she was in Maryland.

For Caleb's birthday, Annie made it sound like the choice was between sitting home doing nothing and feeling sad, or going to set even though they didn't have to. I guess going and doing something as a family wasn't an option. Better to hang out with a bunch of rowdy teenagers who didn't know him and spend the evening jumping onto the beanbag. Which gets even more eyebrow-raising when there are seven or eight teenagers instead of two or three, including some 17-year-old boys egging each other on. While Katie and Billy forget they are adults responsible for the situation. "Oh, you make me so nervous!" Right. Keep on filming then. Push through that little voice in your head saying it's a bad idea.

Singing to Caleb was sad to me...those kids don't care. They just want to be on the vlog to promote themselves. But if it keeps the Leblancs from dealing with their emotions they'll go for it.

It's okay to feel sad sometimes.

I just had the same thought running in my head reading these posts. It’s okay to sit home and miss Caleb and feel sad and cry. What happened sucks and isn’t fair. She gets it from Katie. I remember when they dedicated the bench to him Katie made a comment that is was nice of them to do, but she wished they hadn’t because it brought back everything again.

I don’t have an opinion on whether Sydney’s video was appropriate or not. But, I remember one of the first videos I watched was when they had all the family and friends over. I didn’t know who she was at the time, but she stuck out to me in one clip because she just looked so incredibly sad. I just saw this fan edit using her cover. Seems like there are tons of screen shots they could have used showing the two together. I wonder who put it together.

Man the way some of you talk this family should all stay home, curl up in fetal positions and spend Caleb’s birthday sobbing.

I see a ton of “grief shaming” going on and it’s pretty ridiculous. When I was 14 my mother died. The next year my 17 year old brother died. It was extremely sad and awful. But it’s not like you might imagine. By about 3 months after each death I was more or less totally fine. Now more than a decade out for each of them I don’t always *remember* their birthdays. Three years out ... I don’t know. I may or may not have thought of their birthdays. Some of my family members on the other hand can’t handle hearing their names without bursting into tears. Everyone deals with loss in their own way. There is a metric ton of stuff to criticize the LeBlanc’s over, but the way they choose to handle Caleb’s birthday isn’t one of them. Frankly, it’s none of our business.

It’s also bizzare that some of you take issue with the fact that they “don’t talk about him”’. Well, maybe they DO talk about him. Why do you need to hear people talk about their dead family member? And maybe they don’t. Why do they need to?

Also: they can’t “hurt” Caleb. Caleb is, sadly, dead. It doesn’t matter one bit it Sydney’s feelings towards Caleb were reciprocated. He’s not around to object.

I couldn’t agree more! Poor Hailey has been asking for canvas paint for at least as long as Annie said she has been wanting a camera. The very next day, they go to the store and buy Annie her camera. And now it is a week later and Hailey is still asking for the paint, which she still hasn’t gotten yet.

I wonder how the money situation is sorted out in this family.I hope Hailey gets her fair share because she is earning it too. Annie spends so much money , but in comparison, Hailey isn’t getting much spent on her. So I hope Hailey has a separate savings account in her name that her money goes into for her future. One day all the Bratayleys You Tube fame and fortune will end (hopefully sooner then later tbh) I don’t want Hailey to have to suffer with no money being left because Annie and her parents spent it all.Buy the poor kid some paints damn it! It just makes me so sad for this poor girl.

I don't think _anybody_ expected them to spend Caleb's birthday "in a fetal position sobbing". It was just weird to have a birthday celebration for him and have a bunch of people who didn't know him (and who will probably be gone in a few months, just like any other "BFF'S) over, let Carson blow out the candle when Hayley was asking to do it.
They're not grieving. They are running from it. And that's not healthy. I am not trying to "shame" the way they grieve. I just know that pretending to be happy all the time and being unable to be in the house where your son's death occurred after the kids are in bed three years after it happened isn't healthy. I don't need to see them crying. That's not what I mean. Except for a couple of people, they have cut off everyone who knew Caleb. They run around like crazy, and Katie in particular can't handle being unstimulated. They've turned "celebrate life" into meaning "take what you want when you want it" rather than any kind of celebration of Caleb's life or anyone else's.

But hey, think what you want. We're all a bunch of "haters" anyway. Just ask anyone in the comments section.

Hi, I think you’re in the wrong forum. We don’t like the LeBlancs here.

Our opinions on what they do when it comes to how they cope with Caleb *shouldn’t* be our business but as said above, they put it out on the internet for revenue so it’s fair game. And quite frankly I’m glad it is. The way Katie and Billy handled the situation wasn’t the best. Therapy would’ve been their best friend but instead, they shut out just about everyone who knew Caleb and flew out to LA to kickstart halfassed teen Hollywood careers. Now they’re surrounded by typical fake LA people who never knew Caleb and probably don’t care either, unless it has to do with gaining clout.

And also, if they don’t talk about Caleb ON camera, there’s a good chance they don’t talk about him off camera either, considering how much Billy likes to keep in the vlogs.

As much as there is to critique Billy on, I’m glad he is there. Maybe I don’t pay attention, but it seems he treats Hayley and Annie the same. He even took Hayley to a nail salon after Hayley asked Katie to do it for weeks. I’ve said it before, but out of anything my biggest issue with them (besides the poor dogs) is how Katie treats Hayley like everything she wants is some big hassle and anything for Annie is a joy. Hayley isn’t dumb, she knows who the favorite is and Katie doesn’t even try to to treat them equally. I just really don’t get why she doesn’t like Hayley.

I’ve always wondered if Hayley was a “surprise.” There’s a 4 year age difference between her and Annie. That might explain why Katie treats Hayley like an afterthought.

Not only is Hayley generally treated as an afterthought by Katie, she NEVER once kept her promise to switch off with Billy at going with Hayley to the Maryland house when Hayley was still in school. Another sign that she can't cope with being there. But it also was hurtful to Hayley, I think that Katie promised to switch off and then just blew it off. She was too busy ordering room service and pretending to be 13 again.

What is the deal with Annie only wearing belly revealing shirts? I'm glad she's confident in her 13 year old body. But I have a feeling the older she gets, the more revealing her clothing is going to be. I feel kinda petty for complaining about that. But I was not nearly as confident at that age. But I've never been confident or secure in my own body, ever.

There's no way they would let her take public transportation around LA with her friends. She doesn't cook for herself, pack for herself, or do her own laundry. She's not even left home alone ever.

On another note, I guess the new episode of AGNJ is out. Do they realize that "stalking" wasn't a thing back then? I mean, yes, people did that behavior, but it wasn't called that. I was watching "Roman Holiday" with Audrey Hepburn tonight. She could express so much without saying anything. I just don't understand how Annie's little fans and her own mother even, can believe she's such a good actress! When you look at someone like Audrey Hepburn, and then watch a Brat show, the lack of charisma and ability become pretty obvious.

Katie D. flew from Maryland to Utah for gymnastics camp ALL BY HERSELF. I can't see Annie flying alone any time soon. However would she manage without Billy there to rub lotion on her itchy feet and buy her snacks for the flight. Audrey Hepburn is a true Hollywood legend with more talent in one eyelash than Annie could ever possess. I think Annie's fans are mostly lonely souls who are living vicariously through her...and I think I just described her mother as well.

Does Riley annoy anyone else? I can't stand how she is always hanging on Annie and calling Annie her best friend...and now she refers to Billy and Katie as Mom and Dad.

Lastly, Billy seems beyond bored living in an apartment with three girls where he can't buy big toys except for buying/leasing an SUV so he and Katie would each have a vehicle to drive Annie and Hayley around. In a recent vlog he headed off to the Sri Lankan festival by himself because the "girls" didn't want to go with him. His days pretty much consist of chauffeuring Annie and Hayley "to set," getting food for them, and editing videos...and don't forget rubbing lotion on Annie's itchy feet. Blech.

It also bothered me that the guy was saying "oh this diner looks soooo 50s"...I got what he meant, but it just didn't seem like something a guy back then would say. And I don't know why, but it bothers me that Jo has this long, scraggly hair. She's supposed to be a tomboy (I think...?...though I'm still not sure where they are going with this character) and most girls in the early 60s had short hair and if it was long they wouldn't let it hang all tangled and free. I know that she has been raised without a mother to give her a female influence and Jo is (I guess?) supposed to be a total nonconformist, and I totally get prefering long hair (both Annie and Jo), but it just doesn't seem to fit the character. Jo doesn't seem like someone who would bother with hair flopping all around. She'd just cut it short and be done with it. Cathy looks like a girl who just stepped out of a 1963 Life Magazine advertisement. Jo doesn't look the time period at all. Look at an old yearbook from that era...some of those girls were tomboys and nonconformists but none looked or dressed like Jo. I think it's true what someone else said, Annie is not a skilled enough actress to pull off this part yet so they went overboard making her *look* different. I don't think Annie is ready to be compared to one of the most beloved actresses of all time to be fair, but even looking at other Brat kids, like Piper from Mani, she is way more natural on camera. She probably took lots of acting lessons...I'm not saying it'll never happen for Annie. She obviously has some kind of appeal to warrant such a huge, loyal fanbase. But she just isn't ready for all this stuff yet. If you want to be good at something, you usually start small.
