And her accent has drastically changed (sorry if this has been brought up before) but why does she put on this fake Mary Poppins-esque accent now? Is she that ashamed of where she comes from?
I'm also from Essex, and she deffo seems it because our accent is a weird hybrid and is quite unique so she changed it for a reason
I'm actually from near Essex myself and her original accent isn't that strong/noticeably Essex really, she's so much more likeable and personable sounding like that! Nowadays the way she speaks actually makes me cringe
When she goes 'oh i sound so Essex' i actually cringe because it's not like she sounds like Amy Childs or Joey Essex

Off topic but I love you guys accents! I’m currently living in an area of the country with some of the worst American accents on earth. Haha, a British accent is so pleasant sounding!

The thread is getting close to 40 pages so I’m taking name suggestions for our new thread!

SherbieDabs, I hope you get well soon (or if it's something chronic, that it chills out ASAP)!

I'm not super active here but am trying to post more, and just wanted to pop by and say a big thanks to Teddy for modding the thread recently, and shoutout to mangetout and kofi for always putting my thoughts into much more eloquent sentences than I could!

I was away for a few days, but I followed this thread from a distance and now I'm not quite sure what's happening. Has the drama died down now?
She deleted her fb, privatized her ig & twitter and... that's it? No video about this shit? No confronting GG? :|

I like all English accents, including the southern brawl. ;) I don't like the accent I have when I talk English (which is my second language).

Thank you Frezzles, I've had severe pain issues for around 7 months now and need spinal surgery. It'll definitely change my life but not my happy outlook. I'll still visit here though! I'm a positive person, and I can adapt to change without much fuss. Life is for living, whatever your circumstances :)

Edited to also add my sincere thanks to Teddy, she's waved a calm wand over us and it's appreciated.

if we're talking accents, the brimingham accent is a winner for me (I'm from england though and have that generic british accent and HATE it  )

Back on topic though, Beckie has made minimal changes, that won't last for too long and it'll be back to normal, but she'll be able to say "I went private and it still happens!", when realistically she still has tens of thousands of people following her, and those could be anyone. She makes no sense to me, ay all

Two suggestions, they are both taken from other user's post. Falaf3l(sp?? :D) BeckieJBrown even Half-asses her diagnoses. The other suggestion I thiiiink is from silentQ BeckieJBrown tried nothing and ran out of options :D

Edit:These phrases cracked me up and stuck with me, because they just describe her so well :D

Aha. Good observation. Maybe she is trying to emulate her pre-teen self, who was full of confidence.
After all, she played the starring role of Cleopatra, sorry, Mary Poppins in the school play, one other starring role, too, at the age of 10 or 11, I think?, I have one of those funny memories,
when she was treated as she should be.
Before they found out she couldn't sing at all, I assume, as she has pointed out regretfully herself many times.
I much prefer her normal, familial accent, too.

Oh lord, next thing you know she’s going to post:

“I’ve gone private everywhere and the gossip boards are still trying ways to find me! How disturbing they’ve gone out of their way to find out I’ve privated everything!! Can someone get me in touch with an internet CEO?? Is there a special phone number for verified people???”

Yey another person who likes the brummie accent. Unless you're being sarcy Image I love it! It gets so much hate. But I'm biased. And I love regional accents in general it makes society so colourful.

So it's all quiet on the becky front atm. Wonder what she's planning lol or maybe this is the long needed sm break she needs? Hm. Cautiously optimistic.

I think she'll reappear today. The weekends over, she'll be back at work, she'll probably have something to say online.

However, if today anyone even just looks at her in the street she'll probably blow it out of proportion online saying that she was followed and nearly attacked or whatever. God forbid someone ask her for directions, she'll say they were trying to kidnap her.

She'll probably talk about "no-one can tell you how to live your life" or something like that. Bravery or whatever.

When she uses that kind of phrasing I think, "Bitch who the fuck are you talking to?"

Cause I know she's not talking to her fans. She hates talking to them.
She's funny, but not funny like, 'ha ha', funny like, 'yikes'.

mangetout wrote:However, I always feel a bit uncomfortable when people use phrases like "emotionally/socially stunted" to describe Beckie. The fact is, despite what she tries to portray to everyone online and despite what her minions may believe, I think she is just a deeply horrible, nasty, vile, disgusting person. We don't have to assume that it's because of some degree of "stunting" that she is like that; she could just BE like that. That could just be who she is.
I can see your point, I'm not doubting she's done awful, nasty things but her way of going about it does strike me as very childish. I'm quite emotional myself (a bit of a crybaby tbh) but the term 'throwing her toys out of the pram' makes me think of Beckie. Only she'd then proceed to be upset that she no longer has them. I realise she could just 'be like that', but I suppose I just like to think there's hope for her with a decent therapist and some growth. :(
mangetout wrote:I think the issue a lot of people have in reconciling who she is with how she behaves, is that she tries to portray herself as a sweet, doe-eyed, innocent, Christian, moral, angelic little girl. A sweet little child. But the truth is, the way she looks and the fake accent she puts on doesn't cover up her fucking disgusting behaviour. The way she makes people feel, the way she attacks, doxxes, argues with people, refuses to accept any criticism, acts the victim, can't accept when she's made a mistake, can't accept when she's called out.
[...]
This isn't the behaviour of an angel. This is the behaviour of a fucking vile human being with the body of a small 25 year old woman. If she didn't look the way she did, I doubt very much that she'd ever have the following that she does have.

I am 90% sure that Beckie is not autistic, especially looking at her older videos. The way she tries to portray herself is essentially the opposite of her true self... but she doesn't even hide her 'disgusting behaviour' well! That's one thing that gets me. I agree with you, though, I really don't think she'd get away with half of what she has if she didn't look the way she did. Admittedly, I can attest to this in my own life... I'm a very young looking 24 (I get told I look 14-18), I'm only 4'10 and dress in a 'cutesy' manner. I get away with a lot that I feel my peers really wouldn't and I think people do forget that people like Beckie and myself, and other small/young looking/cute adults are adults. I think she's very aware of this and uses it to her advantage.
mangetout wrote:Don't want to diagnose anyone but am absolutely certain it isn't tourettes. Watch a video of someone who has tics, they are involuntary. Beckie is DELIBERATELY doing it to be quirky and cute. It is NOTHING like tourettes.
My bad! I didn't mean offence upon asking this, I admittedly don't know much about tourettes other than that a lot of people with it make involuntary sounds, movements and words. I did wonder if her clicking/purring was involuntary but I've looked up videos of tics and see a clear difference - which makes it more obvious to me that Beckie's actions are deliberate. :mmhmm:
mangetout wrote:Again, also not diagnosing: we can examine her behaviour without having to consider her as have learning difficulties. It is possible for her to say and do vile things because she's a nasty person, not because she's got those issues. Though in terms of IQ, she really doesn't seem to be the brightest bulb in the bunch. But honestly, we all know people who are a bit on the slow side, and most of them aren't mean and horrible like Beckie. It's no excuse.

I assure you that it wasn't her actions that prompted me to wonder about a low IQ, and if she really does have LD it wouldn't be an excuse at all! I just observed her reading habits on Goodreads, her poor reading comprehension, poor understanding of the world, her speech and so on! People with low IQ and/or learning difficulties/special needs can be good people, bad people, just as anyone else can be - it doesn't justify doing awful things, nor does it make good deeds mean any less.
mangetout wrote:I don't want this to come across as attack you, Baudrillard, it's absolutely not (you seem awesome!). I just think that too often, we look at someone as small and cute and doe-eyed as Beckie, and we, as a society, have trouble understanding how someone like that can ever be a horrible person on the inside, so we search for explanations like "autism" or "learning difficulties".
No worries, I didn't percieve any part of your reply as an attack! :love2: I completely see where you were coming from, and appreciate your response.

As a sidenote, you seem like a really great, strong person and I hope you're well and haven't been too upset by Beckie's terrible actions!
As do you! Thank you so much, I do try. I'm doing reasonably well.

@ gizmo, 100% serious (My family is from Birmingham and I wish I had picked up the accent!)

I'm not sure if Beckie will re surface today. I think she's gonna lay low for a bit longer, even if just to save face

Social anxiety =/= autism, social skills are like anything you don’t use it you lose it, after lush she did have a job that involves leaving the house and was living with her parents and other than them probably only saw her elderly and unwell grandfather a lot of the time. Sitting in your room barely seeing anyone isn’t good for introverted anxious people who find it hard to socialise it may be the most comfortable thing and easiest but it’s not best.

My first suggestion for a new thread title is probably too rude so I’ll throw these into the suggestions -

BeckieJBrown please god smite the guru gossipers
