WORDSALAD wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 7:25 am^^^ I wash my face in the shower every day and my skin is honestly better than Caroline's. And I use cheap skincare to boot! Hear that Caroline - CHEAP SKINCARE!!!
I don't know where this woman gets most of the 'advice' she gives but most of it smells strongly of whatever she plucked out of her arse that day.
It’s probably better than tugging vigorously with a washcloth and going in 2x a day with glycolic acid and no sunscreen. Now that I think about it, she may change her mind if she can do a sponsored post with the local water company.
Re: Caroline TheObnoxiousOversizedChild Hirons PT2
The cheat sheets often have food/tablet recommendations. I don't think the shower face cleansing is cultural, more Caroline's own opinion. Don't see what's particularly wrong with cleansing in the shower, it's not as if people are running scolding hot water, presumably you could do the infamous double cleansing too.AmyRita wrote: ↑Wait... people are taking diet/supplement advise from Caroline now? Skincare advise was bad enough. I remember reading on her website that she’s “trained in brands”. Also, she doesn’t like it when people wash their faces in the shower. Is this a UK vs US shower head thing? I don’t see why she would have a problem with this if people turned down the temperature/didn’t take very hot showers.lightrain2 wrote: ↑Thanks, I agree sometimes a simple routine works best. And at the end of the day, everybody is different so a one size fits all recommendation, especially when she starts bringing up supplements & food, isn't the best. Other skincare gurus usually stress that their routines work for them, their bodies, their budgets and climates etc rather than think you can give strict routines to strangers. I do feel she underestimates just how sensitive and prone to reaction people are with chemical exfoliants, even those in low doses can end up causing painful breakouts and dry skin.GuruG wrote: ↑I'm not sure what Caroline means by "hot cloth" method, but I personally tried a hot cloth and oil method and it has worked wonders for me. I have pretty sensitive skin prone to breakouts, so tried many different cleansers, most recent being the cerave gentle cleanser, and it was just alright, I still had problems. Anyway, so the method is like this: apply the oil of choice (I use the Ordinary Hemi-squalane, it's very light and gentl), massage very gently over your entire face (don't over massage, this is important!), take a clean soft cloth, soak in tap water as hot as you can tolerate, and gently wipe the face with it a couple of times. Pat dry. That's it. Honestly, works amazing! Especially great for removing makeup or heavy sunscreen.lightrain2 wrote: ↑Lol, I still don't get what the "hot cloth/flannel" buzz is. Here it's called a towel or face towel but that's the least issue. Surely the method of cleansing is wet face, apply cleanser, wet fingers/palms and rinse face clean... then use a dry towel to pat dry the skin. What does the "hot" actually mean? Warming up on a radiator, drenching in hot water? I know Liz Earle has a hot cloth method with scratchy muslins too. Yes too lazy to google, but wiping away product with a towel rather than just drying a clean face with it, seems a bit much.gemh94 wrote: ↑
I had a similar experience myself, following her rule of "having at least 3 cleansers in rotation", double cleansing with a hot wet wash cloth (hello eczema and even angrier spots!), acid toning like there is no tomorrow and hardly ever mentioning the word Sunscreen. I was too young, desperate and naive to question her "recommendations" which are nothing more than just trying to sell you whatever brand is paying her ATM. After years I eventually cleared up my acne and angry reactive skin, with a basic La Roche Posay cleanser, an Avene moisturiser, prescription Tretinoin and Azelaic Acid, and daily SPF.
I really feel sorry for all the people that fall for her this glorified sales woman's tactics, but as soon as you question her advice you get either bullied by Caroline herself or her deluded minions.
Now what I found incredibly damaging for my skin out of her arsenal of skincare advices is the pimple-popping cheat-sheet.. ended up with a full on chemical burn, it took weeks to repair!! She is such a charlatan!!

Re: Caroline TheObnoxiousOversizedChild Hirons PT2
I personally get really bad acne from glycolic acid, although every youtube guru out there is obsessed with it and puts it into every damn video recommendation.
so I use lactid acid and it's the best, but I use it only once a week, because I have combination sensitive skin. if I use acid every day, even simply in a toner, my skin will be dry and will fall off in patches, no joke.

Re: Caroline TheObnoxiousOversizedChild Hirons PT2
It's the eyelashes I can't stand, I don't understand why she has them when she oil/balm cleanses. They ruin them and it shows because they're so gappy and uneven plus so ageing because they overtake her eyes. I don't know why she insists on her hair being so bleach blonde it's clearly f*ked and embracing it whilst calling yourself Rod Stewart is just annoying.
As for her recommendations, if they don't work for you it's because no-ones skin is the same so it's really hard to help the masses. If you go to a dermatologist they will do some trial and error before you find the right combination.

Re: Caroline TheObnoxiousOversizedChild Hirons PT2
Found this thread today after I was shocked by her reply to a comment on Instagram.
I suggested that a new product costing £15, replacing an old version priced at £2.50, was profit driven. She called me 'rude' and presumptious'! The new product is also less functional.
It may not mean anything to her as she clearly doesn't pay for this brand's products, but since when were consumers not allowed to point out things like this? How can you be 'rude' to a brand??

Re: Caroline TheObnoxiousOversizedChild Hirons PT2
That was so uncalled for and unprofessional on her end. Just because you, a consumer who pays full price for a product, do not agree with her, who’s paid or at least given free products from the brand...you must be wrong and deserve to be called out. Maybe the product really was replaced based on feedback, but that doesn’t mean everyone has to like it or shut up about it I understand that there are plenty of sheep who rush out to buy whatever she advertises, but I can’t believe brands take this woman seriously. There’s a fine line between being frank and plain nasty.cleopop wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 8:02 amFound this thread today after I was shocked by her reply to a comment on Instagram.

I hadn’t even pointed out that her statement to someone else about the product size was incorrect as it’s now massively diluted...god knows what she’d have called me if I had!
Still it’s led me to question why I follow bulldog influencers like her and twentysomething beauty journalists who must earn peanuts but are permanently on vacation and can somehow afford to buy property in Chelsea through their own hard work. Yeah right.

Not surprised she called you names. She's been presumptuous and rude for years. If the thread name fits... The Obnoxious Oversized Child Hirons lol.
Re: Caroline TheObnoxiousOversizedChild Hirons PT2
I guess she had a change of heart. She was always clear about her disdain for botox saying things like "why would you put that in your face" etc etc. She positions herself as such an authority on EVERYTHING - not just skincare. Always so self-righteous and correct.
I could go on for hours the number of times shes proven herself to be a total hypocrite. but for now id just like to get up on my own soap box about two things. First of all she PERSECUTES any form of wipes. She hates them. Horror - they are so damaging!! And anyone who uses them has to be a complete moron. (its mostly the Americans who are THAT stupid ). What is wrong with a wipe when used for removing makeup and then followed with another cleanse! She uses pads for crissake! What is the difference???????????????? Her exfoliating AHA pads are no less scratchy and abrasive than my Costco face wipes.
The second thing is Clarisonic. They do not damage your skin when used properly. And they are not a breeding ground for bacteria that you then spread all over your face. When you finish using it, rinse it and let it dry. Dont let it fester in a pool of water - i agree that is gross but thats not the Clarisonics fault - thats the dumbass who doesnt know how to use it. Why does a Clarisonic brush have more bacteria than makeup brushes? All it has on it is C L E A N S E R. Its getting cleansed every time you use it. I bet she doesnt wash her makeup brushes every time. Im willing to put money on that.
Dont be hating on my wipes and clarisonic just beause there are stupid people out there who dont know how to use them. Hate the player not the game. That is all.

I am sorry but this is a joke. How the f. can they have her hosting a section about perfect skin when she looks like that. I will never get over the IRONY of having her preaching about good skin or grooming in general.

^^^ Honestly it's akin to a morbidly obese person giving dietary advice.
But hey, the world is filled with this shit. Gotta love those doctors and nurses stood outside the hospital smoking like chimneys.

In my future dystopia your history of stanning one of these creatures will be put on your permanent record, so potential employers can judge accordingly on basis of intelligence.

That blonde hair is atrocious. I would peg her as 60 years old. I recall one video of hers where she was trying to show a face massage. She was kneeding her face like bread dough; I couldn't watch for more than 10 seconds (in horror).
Re: Caroline TheObnoxiousOversizedChild Hirons PT2
Guys, it is so frustrating to read that there many other people like myself who followed her advise and their skin got way worse. About 5 or 6 years ago when all the gleam people like pixiwoo were constantly plugging her, I was an 18 year old with a few spots. Following her seriously horrible advice (Clinique take the day off balm, Clarins acid toner, NO SUNSCREEN ffs) honestly ruined my skin which erupted in full-blown acne. All the overpriced, fragranced, alcohol-laden product she shills are so bad for the skin. She continues to spread misinformation. Back then she used to say it was ok to get your SPF from your foundation (obv never heard of UVA, or how much sunscreen you need to apply) and I remember recently she thought an article about how SPF does more bad than good was interesting???? She is such a joke. Also, how can she look like that even after so many expensive products, procedures, and filler? And how can she endorse getting a tan in 2019

Look at her skin and her LinkedIn, it says all you need to know about Ms Horin's capabilities. She's a shill and obnoxious know nothing know-it-all.

Japp. She is no expert whatsoever, she is only a glorified SALESWOMAN.
If you want to laugh and see how other EXPERTS cringe at her crap advice then watch this live chat. Notice how Dr Sam bunting and Theresa Tarmey are absolutely horrified by CH advice. You can watch the whole thing if you've got time sinsce it is quite amusing, otherwise skip to 37:00.

I think they are represented by the same agency of something like that. Thats why Ruth Crilly, Pixiwoo and CH are all love and friends (they probably try to potentiate or promote eachother). Luckily, Sam Bunting is a professional and doesn't have to do that.Evil_robot wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2019 11:10 amI love Dr Sam and I trust her a lot, I'm glad she doesn't like Caroline lol.
