Where would you want to live if you could move?

Post by Angie V » Sun Apr 07, 2013 11:28 am

Do you have any places you'd consider moving to (that are at least semi-realistic)?

I've lived in Chicago for 12 years, and Baltimore (which I hate) for almost 4 years (included in the 12 years because I am not permanently moved here and still visit home frequently).
I am moving to Los Angeles in a few months but I really love more metropolitan cities with established downtown areas that have buildings and skyscrapers. If I could live downtown Chicago, where I went to high school, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I know it like the back of my hand and it's gorgeous. Maybe one day!

I'd love to live in Manhattan for a while eventually, but I'd need to have made a lot of money beforehand.
I'd also love to live downtown Seattle and maybe San Francisco.

Looking out the window every day and seeing skyscrapers and glass and concrete and possible water is like my dream.

What about you?

Basically this. :D

I want to study in London, I'll probably be applying to at least two London-based unis when the time comes, but in the event that I don't get in, I still intend on living there for a while. Not sure if I want to actually settle down there though. If I do, it'd be a less busy town on the outskirts, a nice one of course. :P I already live in the UK and I'll be moving to southern England in a few months so that isn't actually very ambitious!

There are many places in the US, mainly the places you mentioned, that I'd love to go to but to actually live there I'm not sure about. I quite like the UK to be honest, so I wouldn't really see a reason to move permanently.

A complete dream though, if language wasn't a problem, would be somewhere in Scandinavia. All of the Scandinavian countries have different pros to them but in general, the whole place is awesome and score highly on those "best countries", "most peaceful countries" etc. lists. The education in Finland is fantastic as well (widely considered the best iirc), so if I was to start a family then I'd consider going there if it wasn't for the whole languages-being-insane thing. :P

I suppose if I REALLY eventually want to go, I would actually try learning it. I'm already attempting Icelandic and they're all sort of linked round there so it might not be as horrendous as I think it'd be.

That sounds nice. My cousin actually lives in London, but not in the center. She and her husband bought a house more on the outskirts of the city but it's still in London, not a different town. I've never been but it sounds nice!

As far away from my parents and my brother as possible. I want to live with my grandparents, but that's after I finish education. Los Angeles would be nice because of the weather and the beach. If not Los Angeles, London. Some big city.

London. I spent 2 months abroad there last year, and it just felt so comfortable. It's really a beautiful city. if I was stuck to Canada though, I'd pick Vancouver!

I'm from LA and quite like it here, but I would also love to try living in NYC, London or Sydney. I like large, urban places, hehe. I'm going off to NYC for college this fall though so at least that will be a move in a way!

Australia, if I could without any problems, I would. My second choice would be Georgia. I don't know why, I just have so many friends in both of those places I guess.

I'd love to live in Spain.

I know it's not at its best at the moment but there's still something about it that seems to captivate me. I dunno.

I live in Ireland. I've love to live somewhere fairly warm. Someplace where during the Summer you can sit outside at night in your bare feet, have a BBQ and a few beers and listen to the crickers. Heaven! :P We don't have heat in Ireland....or crickets :P Possibly Australia, Italy or somewhere in the US that has a warm climate and is pretty rural. I'd love to have a nice farmhouse with a few acres.

^Malta would be perfect for you then, and since you said you'd like somewhere rural then Gozo would be better as there's more greenery around :)

Back home...I'm currently at college (have a month to go!) and really I don't think there's any place I'll ever love more than NYC. Luckily I'm moving to New Jersey after I graduate, very close to the city. I wouldn't want to live in Manhattan though. One of the outer boroughs or suburbs is fine with me.

Sanibel, Florida

I used to live there. It was mostly just older people and tourists but during parts of the year, I went to the beach and it was completely empty. The only issue I had was hurricane season.

Somewhere tropical. The winters in Toronto are brutal.

I am about to move into a new house, and it's just 5 miles down the road from where I live now. To be honest, I really like the town I'm living in. I've been here since 1996 and it's great. Not too big, not too small. Has a highly educated population (it is a college town), lots of high-tech jobs, lots of "solopreneurs" like myself. There's a great restaurant and bar scene for all ages (college to old fogies). ;) I just can't imagine moving anywhere else.

I live in Central Florida now, and I love florida, but I really wanna move south to Miami or north to Jacksonville <3 I love Jacksonville and everything about it, same with Miami. I love places with beaches. Maybe when I'm in my 20's, I would love to move to LA or Long Beach <3

My dream city right to is New York <3 . I'd love to move and live there. One of my dreams is to go to university there
though it would be kind of hard as I'm miles away (Europe). Also, I'd like to live in London, but the weather is kinda' not my type..And Los Angeles, the weather there seems perfect..Anyway, my list continues with a bunch of different cities.
