This is my first post!
I absolutely love hearing what people love doing as a job or career.
I spose I'm just nosey but I have always wanted to be a career counsellor or student guidance but I know it doesn't pay well
I am studying set design/production design and would love a career as a set designer or editor for film/tv and talk shows are my guilty pleasure. I have an interest in music and love film music but I don't think I would have enough knowledge to put together soundtracks
Please share what your interests are and what you see yourself doing,

I'm going to school for nursing! It's extremely challenging, but also very rewarding. There are days where I am sitting in class thinking "what in the world have I gotten myself into?!" but once I go to the local nursing home for my clinical hours and work with real patients I remember that it is all worth it and I wouldn't want to be doing anything else.

I'm currently working as a licensed professional structural engineer; however, if I had realized my love for sewing and cosplaying earlier, I probably would've wanted to pursue being a professional cosplayer (ie. go to conventions, participate in competitions, and get sponsored by companies to make character costumes to wear them around conventions), lol.

My plan is to go to a community college for a few years, joining an ROTC program, then enlist in the Military. The reason behind going to college first and not enlisting straight out of highschool is so I can get a higher rank at the start.

Re: What Career do you see yourself having?
I'm studying accounting as a major and human resources as a minor, a weird combo i know. But i've learnt so much in regards to law, management, recruitment, finance/investing and accounting, i definitely would like to become a graduate accountant first. And then take some inspo from my successful parents and open up my own business. Possibly something to do with interior design (my hobby) or some sort of furniture/decor boutique. All the best for your careers!

You have a lot of different interests LOL. Just so you know Accounting is a fall-back career (so you always have a job, but it's REALLY, REALLY tedious/boring). I don't know what country your getting your degree in, but I just recommend finding someone who actually does Accounting as a job as even what you learn in school is more interesting.hey-flower wrote:I'm studying accounting as a major and human resources as a minor, a weird combo i know. And I have a family member who owns their own business and I can say it's not it's cracked up to be. Your not really your own boss, your customers are. And it's time-consuming, expensive, extc. Most small businesses don't make it in their first year (Fun fact: the most businesses are small business about 98% or something (I don't remember the Statistic) and yet it's 98% of the corporation that make up most of America's income.

The Career I would see myself having is something to do with helping people, which will probably happen 10-20 years later depending on whether or not I have a family to support. Right now I need to help myself Financially, but one day it would be nice to do something I actually *Like.**

Re: What Career do you see yourself having?
Wow really? I've got 10+ family members or friends of my parents who have accounting/finance degrees, and it's interesting to see the variety of jobs they have. Some are accountants, some own their own business, and others are in high management roles. Some jobs might be 'boring', and some are not. And i'm in Australia 2/3 through my degree, and i've done lots of work experience and have consulted many time with those family members. I also picked accounting & hr for the specific reason that it is so versatile. I think accounting/finance roles are so important, after all they are usually the CEO's of companies. As for the businesses, my parents own 3 seperate businesses which all come under their enterprise, and so many of my family members own their own. I think it's kind of a cultural thing in my family to work for yourself or own a business. The problem with those failing businesses is that they're usually to eager and unprepared.smars27 wrote:You have a lot of different interests LOL. I've worked in fitness for a while and I love it! However, finding a job that pays well is hard to come by.
