I really enjoyed that interview they did with Sue Perkins They both said a lot of really interesting things in that video, and I honestly wish their content on their main channels was more like their discussions in that interview. They both have a lot to say about creating videos and about television, so why not make videos about that (apart from the fact that the Phandom might complain, but I could still imagine videos like that getting a lot of views)?

One thing I did notice in that interview though - I'm very glad that Sue said "Do study if you want to" when Dan yelled out "DON'T STUDY LAW!". Imagine if there was a law student in the audience - just because Dan had a bad experience with law school, that doesn't mean that it's instantly bad and that nobody should study that subject. I also noticed that Dan straight up spoke over Sue when she was talking about Phil at one point, which was a bit... He wasn't as bad with talking over other people in the interview as he is with Phil in the gaming videos and joint liveshows, but I think that's just because he knew that people outside of their regular audience will be watching that interview and might judge him for trying to steal the spotlight.

As for the gaming video - I honestly wasn't that taken with it. As usual. Dan was too loud, he kept talking over Phil and kept screaming at him and just generally saying rude things to him, and then he really milked it when he won the challenge at the end of the video. I really do wish he could just be nicer to Phil.

I enjoyed the video. My friend has been to the Edinburgh TV Festival sometimes and he says that it can be a real bore, and mostly those on the upper scale of the TV hierarchy. It was a good video. Dan & Phil seem like nice guys.

I don't get why the Phandom is so insistent on them being gay that they attack people on twitter who disagree with shipping. Today I saw a tweet from someone saying that they didn't like seeing two non-gay TV characters being shipped together (which is homophobic I'll agree) and all these little Phan accounts were attacking this girl and bringing D & P into it. They just kept repeating over and over about how it's okay to do bc they're actually gay

I mean, this might not be the reason why, but there are some people who do fetishize gay couples, and I think that might be playing into it a bit. Not saying that every single person who thinks that Dan and Phil are together are fetishizing them, but I think some members of the Phandom probably are.

And then there's also the fact that a lot of Dan and Phil's fans seem to be so obsessed with them that it's just gone too far, which could also explain why the Phandom is so overprotective of them.

Also, why were people bringing up Dan and Phil in that situation? They aren't TV characters, so what has that got to do with the topic of shipping two non-gay TV characters? (Does this imply that some of the Phandom see Dan and Phil as "characters" instead of real people, maybe?)

There are people who also fetishize feet, yet these people aren't "shamed." Gay porn is a thing for a reason. I agree what they do is ridiculous and the "phan is reaL!!!" shit needs to end, but it's not bad to be into "slash" or "yaoi" or gay fiction whatever. It's just shitty to bring real people into it who have real lives, and you should acknowledge that real gay couples are probably not like that and it's fake.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to say that it's bad to be into slash or yaoi... I was making the same point as @meowlizzz. There are certain people who think gay boys are cute just because of their sexuality, and it's offensive as hell. Some people just take it way, way too far.

I also get the feeling that a good number of their fans would stop watching if it turns out that they are straight, which would prove that point.

Definitely. I wasn't even that taken with their first video of that game - I didn't even finish watching it.

But let's face it, it probably will turn into an unnecessarily long series, because they're too lazy to actually play a proper game, or to even try and find a different flash game.

It doesn't help that the phandom has gone completely insufferable. Even the other forum is wanking 24/7 despite their autoritarian regime. I guess DnP's stagnation is starting to frustrate even the phanniest of phannies.

oh definitely. i was a huge fan for five years, as in i spent hours a week talking about them, watching their videos, staying updated and interacting with them. but within the past two/three months i just got sick of them eventually. i still like them, but nowhere near as much as before. they're just plain as day now, and i know many others who feel the same. i've noticed a lot of my phan mutuals on tumblr and twitter have gone into other fandoms.

I like it but also I feel that sticks to their 'branding' to much. But I get where you are going with solo gaming. Actually, the main problem I have with the channel is they seem to only every play games that fit into a multiplayer style, even when it isn't a Dan vs Phil. I wish they just played normal, single-player games, like they can still both play if it is single player because they are right next to eachover
