Re: Skin Care by Hyram
i used to watch him here and there but something about him really annoys me so i just blocked him from my feed lol probably because he's in no way qualified to talk about skincare, same thing with James Welsh. Just because you're an avid consumer, it does not mean you have some kind of authority in this area, like cmon. His "woke" videos also pissed me off

Re: Skin Care by Hyram
I used to watch him but after his video saying that premium products like Drunk Elephant are better than drugstore. After I called him out on his snobbery and that he’s giving misinformation to people believing expensive means better and that his many reasons like Sephora offers sampling and better customer service blah blah blah. Came off so bougie to me which is his choice but he can’t go saying it’s superior as all skincare depends on each individual and that drugstore skincare shouldn’t be looked down upon especially since their parent companies most likely are the same which makes him look like a hypocrite. He didn’t took my comment very well and said I should’ve said it in a nice way, because I deflated his ego?

I agree with you. I remember seeing that video and thinking 'Okay, but that's your personal opinion, not fact.' He seems like he's got a little bit of an attitude in my opinion.Alienatedkido wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 8:00 pmI used to watch him but after his video saying that premium products like Drunk Elephant are better than drugstore. He says he's a Skincare specialist, but not a dermatologist or esthetician. Well, anyone can go on the internet and be specialist at anything they want to be... for anything they say they are... no?

Re: Skin Care by Hyram
Thanks! I actually liked him when he was first starting out, I didn’t want to hate on him but half of the time he was spent justifying why he buys premium brands and obviously his followers are going to literally follow what he says because he’s the “expert” so people are supposed to go into debt for good skin? Plus he’s super young and so I’m guessing he’s just trying to make money rehashing information he found on the internet or other qualified experts as he gives the most basic information a little googling would get you the same result.WestCoastBlonde wrote:I agree with you. Re: Skin Care by Hyram
Calling himself a specialist with no education or experience in the field is pure cringe inducing. How people are so shameless and reckless that I can't wrap my mind around it. He doesn't delete the comments as far as I can see, there were many calling him out with no response.

This guy just regurgitates information he hears from Dr. Dray and styles his videos after Susan Yara. He's a skincare junkie, not a specialist. I tried watching his videos but he doesn't really put out anything original.

Re: Skin Care by Hyram
I’ve never actually watched him but by his video titles, he seems to want to get people on click bait and trash any brand he can. It seems pretty scummy in my opinion.
My tears are nonexistent, help!

YT keeps throwing him at me for no reason. I tried watching him and he’s just insufferable.

Re: Skin Care by Hyram
This dude has become the king of ClickBait.
He has cracked the code with this whole 'Specialist reacts to [Insert Extremely Famous Youtuber with millions of followers name] skincare routine' and a photo that makes it look like he's about to drag them. Then he just sucks up...
Also, is he buying followers? He shot up like a half million followers in three days...

Re: Skin Care by Hyram
I don’t think he’s buying followers, he’s just been blessed by the YouTube algorithm. I never watched any skincare vids but recently had a bunch of his videos recommended to me and I saw other people commenting similarly. Tbh I don’t know much about skincare which is why I came here to see if her was legit.WestCoastBlonde wrote:This dude has become the king of ClickBait.

Re: Skin Care by Hyram
It's wild that he can legally call himself a specialist despite having zero education in the field of skin care. It's a straight up lie and shouldn't be allowed. I checked out his linked in and it doesn't mention anywhere that has education or work experience in skin care. He's a charlatan and I'm going to report him for imitating a medical professional.

I hate his dangling earring. I love this new trend for men, but oh god... he cannot pull it off.

Re: Skin Care by Hyram
So I really like his videos for the most part but there are some inconsistencies that started to bother me. For example, he is correct in saying denatured alcohol shouldn't be in skincare, it's an irritant and it's incredibly drying. But apparently it's okay in every single sunscreen he's ever recommended.
Since he's a skin care "enthusiast", and I'd call myself the same thing, it really surprises me when he just glosses over stuff like that.
I really like the guy but I'm totes following this thread anyway because I love the gossip!

He lost my vote when he said he loves Dr. Dray's videos. I can't take any channel seriously that would promote someone like her.

The amount of filters he uses on his face is appalling for a skincare channel. He’s definitely getting up to Tati’s level.

Happy there is a thread here! He has certainly hit on the YT algorithm - every video I watch he is up like 100k subs. Wonder what his job is? Maybe a skincare sales assistant?

I think I saw in an article he’s employed with youth for the people. I’ll link it if I can find it again

Re: Skin Care by Hyram
I unsubed from him months ago and YT continues to recommend his videos. No wonder he's gaining so many subs. I hate how YT's algorithm works. I feel like there are a lot of unknown people with great videos who will forever be stuck where they are, and someone like him who heavily clickbaits and copies other people get pushed up.

Re: Skin Care by Hyram
I watched a few minutes of one video, until he said something that made me realise he has no qualifications or training relevant to skincare. If I want to know about retinol I'll just google it and probably end up reading the same article he's getting his info from.
