I've watched the Clicknetwork video only to see Irene (the lady who does the Food Porn show) as I find her really funny and her show is entertaining but gosh, why did they have to start with Tyre Queef?!! And if you didn't know how she was outside of that little segment, you might even think that she's a nice mom. LOL

NN Xmas video seems a little rushed, I don't wanna speculate too much but it seems like they put it up in a hurry, it hasn't the same 'nice' feeling as GC video...

Half of the people with 2 minutes to spare can easily find where she lives, she's never been that interested in hiding that information. I don't really get people like that: they make every little thing about them available to complete strangers and then complain when something bad happens. #smh

I don't know why amidst all this discussion about bloggers' advertising ethics people love to bring up this printscreen of an ad I did some time ago and claim that I'm just as guilty. I'd love to clarify once and for all.

I don't really understand the conclusion people are drawing from this. Is it that I don't write my own captions?
Let me tell you what happens when a blogger gets an ad. This is standard protocol.

First, clients, in my case going through my agency Nuffnang, asked if I wish to do an ad with them. The products are sent to my place for testing, and if I like them, I agree. I assure you I've tried many products I didn't like before and ended up not writing about them. Slim couture is one example.

Afterwards, I'm given the guidelines of how to post. Example: Xiaxue to hold a cup with Skinnymint tea, give a review after trying it for a month, and talk about the benefits of it, which includes alertness, reducing bloatedness etc. I write the caption, and I send it back to my manager for the client's approval. Most of the time, clients don't change much. They usually just check if all the right hashtags, urls etc are in. Ethical clients will never attempt to put words into bloggers' mouths (like ask me to say I lost 10kg with the tea even if I didn't) and if any tried to do that to me, they can go fly a kite.

In this case, all that the client added was that there was free shipping. That's all. My manager sends it back to me and I post it up.

What happened here was that I forgot to delete the line which my manager added.

At the end of the day, yes, the caption may be slightly altered by the client but
1) It is 99% written by me. If they aren't, I'd love to know how the clients all manage to write in a style that's so similar to mine.
2) And I always write it's a SPONSORED POST so people know I'm being paid to post about it.

I always emphasize the importance of stating it's an ad because when you are paid to write a sponsored post, you most certainly will never mention the bad parts of the product, just the good bits.
But it doesn't matter how you exaggerate how good the product is, as long as people know you have a reason for that, which is that you are being paid to.

TL;DR: I didn't do anything wrong, was just a bit careless.

Coming clean after 5 months? Someone's starting to feel the pressure.

And didn't she just contradict herself - when she bragged about her honesty in ads, and then say it's ok to exaggerate as much as you want since it's an ad.

Sorry. I just wanted to go back to the Skinny Mint ad she goofed up on. So she admits she was careless in not removing the line her manager added. YET she wasn't so careless when she used Miyake's video clip of the fruit and vegetable mask maker and didn't credit her? Not only that, she didn't mention the mask maker was from Miyake's blogshop? At least be consistent, Xiaxue.
