Also you can see the bunny has some mated fur on his lower bottom and his fur looks all splotchy. She clearly cannot take even take the time to minimally brush the fur to remove the shed hair. Why have a pet if you cannot optimally care for them anymore? Just giving it food and water to make sure it's alive is not enough. Why not give it to someone who can offer it more attention... I bet she doesn't even take him for vet checks as often as she should.
I agree.
It's molting season and two of mine are molting pretty badly. First of all, it's quite bad that Igloo doesn't have a friend because rabbits are social creatures. In the wild, they live in groups and it's been proven that bunnies are happiest when they have a friend. Of course, that only works if the rabbits are spayed and neutered and I'm willing to bet Igloo isn't.
Second, as I said, it's molting season and it's important for the loose fur to be removed because otherwise it gets ingested and can cause an intestinal blockage. My little dwarf has fine fur so a brush won't really work on him, I use my hand to get the loose fur off. But a lop is much easier to brush, XX has no excuse.
The splotchiness isn't an issue, mine are patchy from shedding, and believe me, I take excellent care of my rabbits. Matted fur IS a problem, though.
